SF makes some changes
and so on and so on and scoobie doobie—mmmmmm-doobie...
Makes smoking illegal in parks, gardens and city owned “recreational spaces.” oh, except golf courses…
“Second hand smoke is just as dangerous outdoors as indoors.” said Alioto. [think if I blew a puff at her she’d melt? Can I try? puhleeeeeeeze]
One Stupidvisor Supervisor’s plan plan to require a supervisor to cast his or her vote within a minute of being called failed to win the required eight-member backing at Tuesday’s board meeting. [guess they were in the bar across the street ...in the bar across the street.]
RALPH NADER appears in SF this week as part of his 2005 national tour against the war. [kinda like Cher’s Never-Ending Farewell Tour]
Moves to “recount” deaths in the 1906 Earthquake. [FEMA relief bid? Nope—just suggested by an “beat author” whose major claim to fame is wrestling in a pig sty with Ken Kesey. oh, and turning Santa Cruz into “another Paris!"] [have you seen Santa Cruz?]
San Francisco Unified School District will ask a judge today to lower the legal fees, $9 million [$800/hour], that public interest lawyers want for a case recently settled with the district for $300 million to make the schools more accessible to those who are disabled. [those schools already meet CA state standards]
Charges a 17¢ tax per grocery bag tax. Plastic or paper. [the stores can keep half the money to “set up programs” uh huh.]
For fiscal year 2003-04, general fund-supported city departments spent $1,345,968 on postage just sending crap to each other. [why not FedEx it?]
Spends $100 million per year federal and local, on direct ‘services’ for bums. [coincidentally exactly the amount that they are short in the budget...]
Moves to sent $1 million to the tsunami viiiictims. [maybe they can close another firehouse and fire 100 more beat cops. Hell, they not allowed to arrest anyone for anything but having a fag smoke, anyway.]
It was a busy busy day in San FranFreakShow.
