More Flips from the Flop
...uh...erm...
Whispers confirms that Blackwater did handle the Democratic presidential candidate’s security in Afghanistan and helped out in Iraq. What’s more, Obama was overheard saying: “Blackwater is getting a bad rap."
When Obama is asked about private security contractors, like the infamous Blackwater, he told Amy Goodman of Democracy Now that he would not remove these 140,000 private troops from Iraq. Adding it together Obama would leave as many as 225,000 troops and mercenaries in Iraq after his withdrawal is complete.
OBAMA: You are privatizing something that is what essentially sets a nation state apart, which is the monopoly on—on violence, uh, and to set those kinds of precedents I think will lead us over the long term into, uh, some troubled waters.
