Why is Laura saying dumb things?

Where, oh where did this idea originate that all Women/ Blacks/ Hispanics/ Asians/ Latvians/ White Middle-aged Men think alike? Frankly, I find it insulting and more than a little childlike in its over-simple view of the world.
Yet, here is even Laura Bush acting like it matters to the job of SCOTUS judge whether someone is male or female.
In all fairness, maybe it was a cleverly-delivered signal from the Bush administration that the nominee won’t be Alberto Gonzales so all the hard right can lay off him?
