NEW YORK - While some world leaders are concerned that China and Russia are conducting their first-ever joint military exercises this week; the real story is what happened last week. The trade ministers of Russia and China met in Beijing to discuss joint economic strategies between these former Communist giants.
But as Sun Tzu said, the most excellent consists of breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting. Russia has massive oil reserves, mineral deposits and an untouched forest the size of the US. China has more labor than anyone anywhere ever and a manufacturing machine rival to none. Together they represent BDB-like brute force that will take a mountain of quick thinking and Yankee ingenuity to out-maneuver.
They have something else we do not have—focus.
Both of these countries now practice “state capitalism.” They’re not communists anymore, but they’re not really free-market economies, either. Good business is whatever the Kremlin and Beijing say it is. On the animal farms run by the Bear and the Dragon, all businesses are equal, but some businesses are more equal than others. And centralized planning is not exactly dead yet.
While we chase 7th century gangsters, and our own tails over how to respond to gangsters and blackmailers, the Dragon and the Bear prepare.
Well, kind of, they do. The Russian men are dying like flies of alcoholism. Huge suicide rate. Alcohol rehab clinics for kids.
And China, with her 165,000,000 abortions is left with a HUGE cohort of superfluous single males who will be turned into whatever the 21st century version of cannon fodder is.
These two Giants may end up doing each other whilst we team up with India...that’s possible…
...what the hell. We won’t be here by the time all this comes down so it’s all guess work. Remember those futuristic pictures of stuff they had in the 1950’s? That’s probably as accurate as our guesswork…
Besides, let’s take Right Wing Nuthouse’s lead and wait for the Avian flu to do everybody in.
