What the hell's the matter with US?!?

why do we let creeps do this to us?

The World Trade Center Memorial Cultural Complex will be an imposing edifice wedged in the place where the Twin Towers once stood. It will serve as the primary “gateway” to the underground area where the names of the lost are chiseled into concrete. The organizers of its principal tenant, the International Freedom Center (IFC), have stated that they intend to take us on “a journey through the history of freedom"--... a high-tech, multimedia tutorial about man’s inhumanity to man, from Native American genocide to the lynchings and cross-burnings of the Jim Crow South, from the Third Reich’s Final Solution to the Soviet gulags and beyond.

Do what, now?

TimeMag:
Relying on varied exhibits and multimedia presentations, the Freedom Center will foster “conversations on freedom” ..."It will look at 9/11 in the way 9/11 affected the world,” ...highlights significant moments in history through a collage of images and sounds. ...a former gulag in Russia ...India’s caste system ...slaves who resisted their masters ...shopkeepers who risked all to fight the Nazis ..."We’re not trying to be comprehensive,” Mr. Bernstein said. “We’re trying to keep our stories small and focused so people can relate to them and be engaged."

Then why not focus on those who died here and the results of US actions taken:  purple fingered Iraqis voting?  women walking freely in Kabul, and voting?

...A Freedom’s Future space will be devoted to public service. Lawyers would be invited to volunteer with Human Rights First, for example...

oh.

The Drawing Center, meanwhile, is to vacate its current home ... in SoHo and reopen in expanded quarters: its space will triple, from 10,000 square feet to 36,000 [in the same building]

“We’re not radically revising our mission at all. We’re trying to more fully realize it.” [from their mission statement:]...to demonstrate the significance and diversity of drawings throughout history; and to stimulate public dialogue on the issues of art and culture.

[also included are] Joyce Theater, which now presents dance in Chelsea, and the Signature Theater Company [Off Broadway]

And this is relevant to 9-11 and the rebuilding of America ...how?!?

Ms. Woodner said, “Arts and culture as an expression of life going on is one of the most healing things you can do."

uh huh… So is kicking the hell outta whoever harmed you in the first place and getting back to business.  just sayin’...

The Freedom Center’s creators, meanwhile, have sought to emphasize that their institution has no partisan identity. “We’re filmmakers,” Mr. Kunhardt said. “We’re journalists who want to explore freedom in accurate and meaningful and exciting ways.” He added, “We tried to be above politics as we did our research.”

Mr. Bernstein said the center plans to emphasize questions rather than answers. “Our ambition is not to tell you what to think,” he said. “It’s to make you think."

yeahokay… Haul up yer hip-waders—there’s more:

As for the emphasis on freedom, Mr. Kunhardt said: “This is not a word to shy away from. Freedom will be a word everyone will use with great pride."

“Not a word to shy away from?!?  Whendahell have Americans ever shied awya from using the word “Freedom”?!?  I hear President Bush use it regularly as his choices have freed 50 million people in the last few years.

Yanno what your “plan” is making me think, now?  I’m thinkin’ I sure would like to be free of you and your inaccurate, biased and shame-meaning “explorations.”

Whatinhell, you might ask, does this have to do with US being attacked by raving 7th century religious nuts?  Seek your answers from these fellas, major backers/movers of the IFC project:

Tom “Jose Padill‘s bestest friend” Bernstein, president Human Rights First
Eric “the state is the font of Freedom” Foney Foner
Anthony “Tony the ACLUser” Romero
Michael “AbbyGrabby makes me hot” Poseur Posner [bio vanished from HRF]
and the real scary man-behind-the-curtain, George “I will bury own you” Soros

What about my Human Rights?  My right not to have my culture spat upon?  My right to be treated respectfully?  My right to be proud of my country, its goals and its accomplishments?  My right not to have some manufactured “history” and biased guilt slopped all over my fresh shirt?

I am offended.

There will be reminders everywhere of the sheer might of the towers that once existed here.

The country *I* want to belong to would have already rebuilt those towers—mightier, stronger and higher than they ever were.

We are not finished.  The Grand Experiment in Human Freedom that is America is only done for if we allow these smarmy bastards to pollute our perceptions with their shame at being human.

pfaf.

Yet More:  No Oil for Pacifists points out that it’s even a bit much for the NYT who calls the plan “Orwellian” and “simplistic propaganda”—an expert’s opinion, that is.  RTWT.

  1. I completely agree:  “Three thousand lives and the trade center itself were hijacked and extinguished by terrorists. The place intended to “remember,” “honor” and “respect” the dead and the day must not be hijacked again.”

  2. > So is kicking the hell outta whoever harmed you in the first place and getting back to business.

Not for liberals… They prefer the whimper and plead technique for responding to aggression of any kind. Clearly, their abusers must not understand how they are hurting said liberal twit, or they wouldn’t be hurting them… Right?
