clearly more coffee is in order

I’ve not thought about it much, but the practice of appearing in public with one’s face covered is viscerally repugnant to Americans.  It just ‘isn’t the done thing’ on a social norms type basis and some places there are even laws against it excepting only Halloween.

I always assumed that terrorists and street rioters covered their faces for the same reason that highwaymen did; not to be recognized and made to face consequences.  But in the streets of Gaza City?  On the ‘Arab Street’ while burning the US flag?  One would think recognition would be a Good Thing.  So why the covered faces there?

Are they [unconsciously] imitating someone?
