Trojan Horses?

commence fire

Just another land grab—with silly political ammo attached for fun.

Tomorrow, House Democrats plan to hold a vote on the “Restore Our American Mustangs Act” (H.R.1018)[...$700 million ... reduce the population from 30,000 to 27,000 ... biennial horse census ...]

To comply with the bill, the Bureau of Land Management would need to find an additional 20 million acres, primarily after 2013, at a cost of up to $500 million, according the CBO.

...The bill would give the government authority to enter into cooperative agreements to establish wild horse sanctuaries on nonfederal lands. It also would attempt to bolster an adoption program and sterilize more animals. It would prohibit the killing of healthy wild horses and burros and restrict time spent in holding pens to six months.

..."We have got to get off the current treadmill of spending millions of tax dollars rounding up wild horses and caring for them in captivity, and instead make wider use of fertility control as a humane population management tool,"

A landowner partnering up with the Feds to ‘save the horsies’ is like a sheep partnering up with the wolves to ‘save the wild oat’:  a fiiiine idea.

You can adopt a mustang or burro:  prices start at $125, though bidding on favored colors and individuals can drive it up.  Requirements are simple, tho you will have the BLM up your sleeve for a while.

Steyn’s take:  “death with dignity."
