This phrase was actually spoken aloud at the LA City Council meeting today:

...council members compared Arizona’s action to Nazi Germany and the beginning of the Holocaust, as well as the internment and deportation of Japanese Americans during World War II

...“Los Angeles the second-largest city in this country, an immigrant city, an international city. It needs to have its voice heard,’’ said Councilman Ed Reyes, one of the resolution’s sponsors.  “As an American, I cannot go to Arizona today without a passport. If I come across an officer who’s having a bad day and feels that the picture on my ID is not me, I can be … deported, no questions asked. That is not American.’’

Sr. Reyes - I suggest you take your passport with you when you go to beg the UN for bailouts for your innnnnternational city.  I, for one, will be lobbying Sacramento to cut y’all off.

  1. I live near, but not in, L.A.  They’ve gone public with their looniness.

Just the other day, they considered making homeowners pay for sidewalk repairs caused by damage - done by city-planted trees on public sidewalks.

I think they ought to consider that they have a few more important things to worry about than Arizona.

Like, f’r’instance, the zillion-dollar citi budget deficit.

“As an American, I cannot go to Arizona today without a passport.”
It’s certainly not true about the passport, but as long as he stays home, I’d say that’s Arizona’s gain.
