Claire,
A very nice roundup of the posts in the blogsphere on Iran. You will love Hotel Ramsar, the size of the place is phenomenal, at least from my childhood memories. I always thought it was the Shah’s former castle. I don’t believe I ever ventured in but I remember a rumor that there were tall boxes and television screens and controllers to interact with inside. I learned years later just how exciting an arcade can be.

Have you read any of those books?
Posted by Cyrus J. Farivar on 09/17/03 at 04:56 AMSo far, I am working thru *Persian Mirrors by Elaine Scioliano. Good stuff. I like the historic context she gives but it doesn’t go back so far. There is so *much* history to Iran and Persia that comes to bear on even the littlest factor. Context—rich and dripping . . .
I heard Firoozeh Dumas on the radio and her book sounds good, too.
Have you a recommendation which I should read next?
