Washington state has decided to accept the
matricula consular. That is what they call the identity card, issued by the
Mexican government, with which
illegal aliens immigration law breakers ...er, "borrowed workers" can now get credit, check cashing, and
Social Security. [???]
It is not illegal to submit false information when getting the card. Who would make it illegal? The US government? No, the information is presented to the Mexican government. The Mexican government? What do they care? The people presenting the information aren't
in Mexico. So the people receiving the
matricula consular could be from Mexico, or El Salvador, or Saudi Arabia, or
*shudder even France. [not to put too fine a point on it . . . ]
I am guessing that this is different from the ID card issued to Mexican citizens who actually live in Mexico?
Advocates call it an act of humanity; immigration purists say it undermines U.S. immigration law.
It is true that states don't make or enforce immigration law, but this here purist thinks it might be a good idea to start...
