The Whole Point
An excellent point was made in the comments on this post. [thank you, sir!] In fact I believe it to be the whole point of the Recall™ exercise:Opportunities to get out from under a political machine don't come up very often. People have to decide how interested they are in reform which is the one thing Ahnald has promised and darned few of the other candidates have. And that will set the rest of your priorities. Bill P.
Ahnold's lack of experience is exactly why I will vote for him. Even Tom, who has many good points in his favor, is part of the machine. The reason the Recall™ went over with the voters petition signers was exactly that they, representtive of all of us, are sick and tired of the same ol' same ol' shit -- The Machine.
Running a state is not exactly brain surgery -- it *is* business. Ahnold has business sense and can hire skills and talents in specific areas. More to the point: Ahnold is *something different* and that alone will shake up the powers that be.
Arnold’s “lack of experience” is negated by his being in bed with the political right of the Republican party and the Enrons and Ken Lays of the world. Or did you not know about his meeting with Enron officials during the “energy crisis”? Come on, the guy is a schill for the Republican right, and a nazi supporter to boot (or did you not know about his friendship with Kurt Waldheim, either? Or that his father was a Nazi?)
Enjoy the show - it’s going to be a bumpy ride with Ahnold…
Posted by donna on 10/06/03 at 12:53 PMOh, puh, leeeze. I think the Simon Wiesenthal Center would have found anything there is to be found on the Nazi issue. Or are you gonna tell me that they’re just a bunch of lying Jews?!?
As to his being a Republican? Uh… it’s right there on the ballot next to his name. Duh!
Now let’s talk about Davis’ relationship with David Duke not to mention BustaMEChA, eh?
Posted by Claire on 10/06/03 at 01:01 PMGotta love the left-wing flakes who tell us not to vote for Arnold because he’s a far-right wacko/Nazi/whatever. Maybe we can put them in the same room with the right-wing flakes who tell us not to vote for Arnold because he’s a liberal RINO.
Posted by Xrlq on 10/06/03 at 01:02 PMI’d pay a lot to see that show.
Posted by Little Miss Attila on 10/06/03 at 07:33 PMWell, of course, we will pay a lot to see that show.
And it’s well to keep in mind that what we have been seeing in this campaign is not Arnold Schwartenegger but a scripted character created for this purpose. We should be suspicious of Ahnald’s Hollywood handlers, and it’s an open question who is in control of that particular persona.
Ahnald’s inexperience is his greatest political asset to do what he says he wants to do. Californians’ greatest hope is that he is not psychologically and cognitively embedded in the particular insanity of having learned to think like a politician.
