some rough country in the lava beds where the Modoc Indians held off 10 times their number for 6 months ‘til betrayed by two of their own

Trumpeter Swans and Honkers and ducks and… on Tule Lake
Very pretty, but the lack of trees is a little unnerving up here in the arctic rain forest.
