Fifteenth Amendment
Section. 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.Section. 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
How does that not cover it all?
The sections of the 1965 act that ban literacy tests and other discriminatory practices are permanent.
Against whom are literacy tests discriminatory? Only the illiterate: ya want them to vote?!?
Set to expire next year are requirements that certain states and counties with a history of voter discrimination, primarily in the South, obtain federal approval for any changes in voting laws;
The once and always criminals. Even a goat molester gets out of jail eventually.
that federal observers be present if there is evidence of voter intimidation; and that any county with a significant non-English speaking population provide bilingual ballots.
Ok—howinhell can someone who doesn’t spikka da english possibly expect to comprehend the issues? Or do ya want ‘em to vote cuz they, like the illiterate, are particularly easy to convince of anydamthing?
a] literacy tests for everyone
b] photo ID proving citizenship
c] charge everyone $1
[charging $1 keeps the riffraff outta street fairs—why not outta the voting booth?]

Thank you. That was helpful to race relations.
Literacy??? We don’ got to show you no stinkin’ literacy!!!
Actually, I propose that every voter be given a test on the issues he’s voting about. Anybody who doesn’t know what the hell is on the ballot shouldn’t vote.
Unfortunately, that would disqualify a vast majority of us.
