Run the numbers yourself..

I got this in the mail today from a friend who has had the opportunity to learn a little about the subject. Here's a little story about taxes:

1. In about 15 minutes, a leftist will leave a comment. He or she will insist that the rich guy gets a larger and better meal, so it all works out even in the end.

   This assertion will be flat wrong.

   Do the rich get a separate highway to drive on, or a special military to protect them, or a better deal from the central bank? Do they get more WIC and FICA and Medicare and Medicade than the poor?

   When I was working, I was almost making enough to count as the second-richest guy in that example. Now I’m unemployed. Trust me on this one, I have not noticed any degradation in services from the federal government over this time!

   The raw data is here. It’s really true that the top 5 percent of taxpayers cover more than half of the entire federal tax bill.

3. Well...if you strain the metaphor to the breaking point and consider the waiter the IRS…

   They should shoot the waiter.
