"Right Here In River City!"

Haji to Jihadi in one fell swoop

LODI — Federal authorities have arrested two men and detained two others who they believe are linked to an al-Qaida terror cell in Lodi

Just as a point of interest, that’s 80 miles away from me. Much closer as the crow flies.  From here. Me.  At home.  ...just sayin’.

Hamid Hayat, 22, and his father, Umer Hayat, 47. Both US citizens.

Charges:  lying to federal agents

Lying about what?: Hamid Hayat is accused in a federal complaint of training in an al-Qaida camp for six months in 2003 and 2004 in Ra-walpindi, Pakistan to learn “how to kill Americans,” ...training included explosives and weapons instruction and using photographs of President Bush as targets ...and then lying to FBI agents about it.

Now, somebody tell me:  Isn’t “training with explosives to learn how to kill Americans” a crime?  And if is isn’t, whyinhell not?!?!?

Dear ol’ Dad, Umer Hayat, ice cream truck driver is charged with financing his son’s terror camp expeeerience and lying about that.
[wow.  Ice Cream Truck Driver sure pays better’n I thought it did… no word as to whether it was one of those incredibly annoying jingle-song Ice Cream Trucks that drives up and down up and down up and down up and down neighborhood streets playing the same damned song over and over and over and over and over and over until ya wanna rip your ears off and bury them in the back yard.  I think he oughta get an extra hose-beating-and-Koran-flush for that.]

Muhammed Adil Khan and Shabbir Ahmed, and are being held on immigration violations.  Kahn is the former imam, Ahmed the current imam of the Lodi Muslim Mosque.  They were also working to open a religious school, Farooqia Islamic Center south of Lodi on Lower Sacramento Road, to teach young Muslims, up to 4th grade, about their “cuuuulture.”
[anyone know what “Farooqia” means, or is it a name and after whom was it named?]

FBI agents searched Ahmeds’ home—half of a duplex; apparently they did not have a search warrant for the other half of the duplex.  *eye roll*

Hamid flew to Islamabad, Pakistan on April 19, 2003 and was on his way home from a another Pakistan trip ["he went with his mother to arrange some marriages” according to an anonymous cousin], May 29 of this year.  When the flight left Korea en route to SF, his name came up on the No Fly List and the plane was diverted to Tokyo where FBI agents had a little chat with Hamid, the terror school graduate.  Hamid told them that he “would never be involved with terrorism or anything related to terrorism.” So they put him back on the plane and called the FBI’s Sacramento office.  Hamid landed in SF on May 29 and was interviewed by FBI from the Sacto office five days later on Friday.

He returned ‘voluntarily’ on Saturday with his father, Umed.

The questioning continued through the night into Saturday, one source said. Eventually, Hamid Hayat agreed to take a polygraph test, “and his answers to the relevant questions were found to be indicative of deception,” the affidavit states.

“After approximately two more hours of questioning, Hamid indicated that he had, in fact, attended a jihadist training camp in Pakistan,” according to the affidavit. “Hamid later confirmed this camp was run by al-Qaida.  Hamid described the camp as providing structured paramilitary training, including weapons training, explosives training, interior room tactics, hand-to-hand combat and strenuous exercise.” ...and “how to kill Americans.” ...Classes also focused on “ideological rhetoric” against the United States and other non-Muslim nations, ...Hayat also said he observed hundreds of people from various parts of the world attending the camps.

Having been given a choice, “Hamid advised that he specifically requested to come to the United States to carry out his Jihadi mission,” with potential targets including hospitals and supermarkets.

Parenthetically, Hamid was born in the San Joaquin Valley, Cahleefohrneeiah, in 1982.  ...just sayin’.

The FBI then showed the tape of Hamid’s statement to Proud Papa Umer who was busily denying the existence of any training camps in Pakistan.

Shortly after viewing that videotape, Umer confirmed that Hamid Hayat attended a jihadist training camp in Pakistan in 2003-04,"

These guys cracked pretty easily.  Is that due to the ‘softening effect’ of living in the US?  Or do they have expectations of someone *cough*ACLU*cough* riding in on white horses to cry “civil rights” and get ‘em sprung? [been watchin’ too much 24?]

Hamid went at the age of 9 to his maternal grandfather’s religious school in Rewalpindi, Pakistan,—a school which funnels ‘students’ into the al Qaeda training camp run by a ‘close friend’ of the grandfather’s.  Hamid’s uncle was a mujahadeen fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan.

The two imams, Muhammed Adil Khan and Shabbir Ahmed, were arrested shortly after each met individually with Umar “in the pre-dawn hours Saturday.”

-----

A mosque is a community center as well as a place of ...religious activity. How many people knew about this and said nothing?  How many people didn’t know where little Hamid went to camp?

Here is the shocked and horrified reaction of the Mosque spokesman working furiously to distance himself and his community from this threat to their adopted and cherished American Way of Life:

"It’s unfortunate,” Nasim Khan, former mosque president, said after hearing about the arrests. “These are guys who’ve been doing good work in the community."

Thank you; really, thank you for letting us know where you stand.

In the days following the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Iman Muhammed Adil Khan condemned the attacks, Lodi News-Sentinel religion reporter Ross Farrow, said. [Farrow has interviewed both imams] Several months later, Khan joined the leaders of local Christian churches and a synagogue to issue a Declaration of Peace condemning terrorism and stressing the common origins of each religion,

Alrighty, thennn…

A little early community reaction:

Pamela Parvez, [Lodi resident and] Muslim: “I think it’s a shame what’s happening. I think a lot of rights are being violated. I don’t think it’s very fair - they’re good people."

For further info on this: Read this description of “recruiting” Christian women into Islam, religion of piece.

.

NB: And just for the information of any Moonbat anyone who is currently getting all het up with charges of “racism!”—I am not particularly anti-Muslim or anti-Pakistani; I am rabidly anti-being-blown-up. m’kay?

I am getting to the point where words condemning terrorism are insufficient reassurance; only actions will suffice.  Clear, definite and substantive actions.
