Readin' da Writin'
Pedram Moallemian at The Eyeranian writes clearly and intelligently against "Any direct and indirect foreign interference, period. ...Let us try it our way, for once."In my opinion, tyrants reign and flourish in fear and an atmosphere of violence and terror. They thrive in situations where they can dominate by instigating panic and anxiety, while they use force to quash the disgruntled, often using security concerns as an excuse.
The Whoman poses a dilemma for both America and Iran: "My only worry is that they [US] opt for removal of the "nuclear threat" at the expense of democratic movements in the country [Iran]." This concern derives from the observation that the start of a nuclear plant by the Shah was quickly followed by his fall. Coincidence? Connection? Hooman also discusses the self-immolations that occurred during the protests. In a conversation with himself he describes a note of embarrassment among the feelings of puzzlement and horror, and wonders at the motivation behind such an act. Rezwanul reminds us of the people who are being ignored to death. Among the refugees are the Marsh Arabs, a very old society which was the target of Saddam's reprisal as he destroyed the environment upon which they have relied for centuries, the marsh areas around the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. This article gives more detail. And lest we forget that Iranian humor is weirder even than Canadian humour, there is Webgard and Ayatollah Crank 'n Smash. Drink Alert!
