London: Drinks companies have been ordered to hire uglier men for their advertisements in Britain, to avoid making a link between women’s boozing and sexual success.

Men in alcohol ads that target women should be “balding” and “paunchy” rather than “attractive and desirable”, says guidance issued by the Advertising Standards Authority.

...The authority instructed the firm: “We would advise that the man in the picture should be unattractive - ie overweight, middle-aged, balding etc … The ad is in danger of implying that the drink may bring sexual/social success, because the man in question looks quite attractive and desirable to the girls."

But “Kill all Brits” is still legal.

  1. Last time I check, that worked both ways.

  2. This is probably doing wonders for the ego of overweight, middle-aged balding men in England. That’s it gentleman, a girl would HAVE to be drunk to go home with you, now just go home and stay there, don’t even bother coming out to socialize. Become a Monk or something, quit buying our young girls drinks!

  3. Good to the Brits have their priorities straight...although, knowing their sense of humor, I cannot wait to see how they deal with this one (I suspect slyly and subversively).
