[Article One, Section Six]
“No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office."

  1. Not to worry - the Constitution is a Living Document, able to change with the demands of the times.  (I remember Obama saying in an interview that he was disappointed that the Constitution put limits on the government’s power.)

Still, all she has to do is step down as Senator.  The first part doesn’t count, because the office of Sec of State wasn’t created during her term of office.

I can hardly wait till she gets her first meeting with Putin or Chavez or Ahmadinejad.  She’ll give them such a talking-to, they’ll be glad to get back home.
