Personal Update

My video card went *pooft* Much distressed whining and cussin’ ensued. Then the inevitable trip to the Mac Wizard Reserve. Now begins the week’s wait.
Oh yeah—and the $100 charge to back up my drive as I had no warning before the card went *pooft*
[And I don’t so much trust my back-ups anyway. Data, yes; programs, not so much...] [nevermind why]
So, the point [yes, things are so much more interesting with a point *ahem*] the point is that come Sept., when my warranty runs out, I’m gonna be a-hunting for a new laptop. Any Macintosh recommendations, experiences, warnings, exhortations, recommendations, inside information, and rants welcomed with open arms.
All encouragement to go Gatesian will be duly ignored.
That is all.
Linux is the way to go. Red Hat has a nice package. The learning curve is not that bad—and the software available (free) is phenomenal.

If you have any other questions, you know how to get a hold of me.
I love my 17” PB…
Posted by Scott B on 02/21/06 at 07:58 PMYeah I know, if I have to ask - why a Mac - I wouldn’t understand the answer. But with good PC laptops under $800 I just wonder......
Anyway – get what you want. After all, it’s for you not me. BTW - more gooses please - all this political stuff is giving me indigestion.
