Paging Neal al-Boortz Laura al-Ingram
Iraq has a thriving talk-radio station. as many as 18,000 callers flood the staqtions two lines wanting to talk about life in Baghdad. Their major complaint? Lack of electricity.
Baghdadis want to know why, for instance, if the U.S. can put a man on the moon and repair oil pipelines in record time, it can't provide air conditioning to counter the city's 100-degree heat?
Isn't that one of the main gripes about life in Baghdad we read at Where is Read? in 2002? Another interesting thing:
The Radio Dijla founder [34-year-old Ahmad al-Rikaby] made no mention of the prison abuse scandal among his list of hot topics.
And most of the talk-jockeys -- women!
