ALINA CHO, CNN REPORTER: She’ll make history as the nation’s first black first lady. But even before her husband’s historic win, Michelle Obama was a powerhouse in her own right: an Ivy League-educated lawyer with a six-figure salary. In a month, she’ll be moving into a new home and a new full time job, working for free.
*splutter*
For one thing, these are student reporters - and therefore naturally somewhat clueless.
Even Obama’s salary is dwarfed by what he’s been getting before - $2 million book deals, &c.
That “6-figure salary” they talk about - that’s actually about $300k, from when Barack was elected Senator. You’d think she’d have put something aside for these rainy days.
Do a little Searching and see what it is she actually did for that $300k. Turns out, not much. She didn’t last long at the law firm.
All of which is no big deal.
From what I hear - and this is just rumor, mind you - the wives of the presidents of most big companies don’t get a salary, either.
