  1. Amazing.

I thought I was the only guy out there who had even heard of Herbert Spencer.

When writing my critical thinking thesis on “Is Knowledge Possible?” I began reading Spencer. I believe Spencer holds hope of an antipodes to the German school, and that terrible succession of Germans, from Kant to Hegel. (Terrible in their thinking, not as individuals. ‘Kay?)

That the Left relies upon organic qualities of Hegelianism, which advances the notion of inevitability; the trap that Leftists set themselves is, that only they know, ineffably, in which direction this inevitability mankind is being led.

Having lost the battle of inevitability with the former Communist empire of Russia, losing in their fresh attempts in Venezuela, the worst of them must again cover their eyes and ears to sally forth in the name of fairness and kids to screw up health care and investment in the United States.

Having determined that only government providence is morally virtuous, the inevitability of historical necessity is again regaining momentum in the daft economic prescriptions of Senators Obama and Clinton. It is a wonderful thing to imagine a Heaven here, on Earth. It is madness to presume that only your government can make that inevitability bear the fruit of that promise.

Or, “Let us swear while we may, for in Heaven it will not be allowed.” (Mark Twain.)

  2. OG—you may have been—until today.  I like this fella and will be looking further into his works.  We need every counterbalance we can get for those daft enough to buy into the “gubbmint as savior” routine.

    Thanx for the recommendation!
