Obama's Summer Vacation Gaffe Watch
*holds cake* *eats cake* *doh!*
"It is not going to be a political speech,” said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. “When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally.”
“But he is not president of the United States,” a reporter reminded the adviser.
oooooo—that’s gonna leave a mark.
[or in a rational world it would]
...Yet, a campaign aide at the briefing said the Berlin speech “is not for campaign purposes.”
“I don’t think the fact that large numbers of people gather to hear a speech makes it a campaign speech,” the aide said. “The substance *snerk* ...sorry of what he addresses is what’s important. And what he is addressing has nothing to do with campaigns. It has to do with his view of where we are today in the world.”
...which no one would give a dried fig about if he weren’t campaigning for POTUS.
Obama: “ ‘Mistranslated?!?’ Say what, Chump?!?”
Obama campaign worker: “What the Pres..uhm, Mess...er, Candidate meant was.... “
OK, I realize that I’m prolly not nuanced enough for the words of the Obamessiah, but what the heck does this mean?
“These kinds of hypotheticals are very difficult,” he said. “Hindsight is 20/20. But I think that what I am absolutely convinced of is, at that time, we had to change the political debate because the view of the Bush administration at that time was one that I just disagreed with, and one that I continue to disagree with—is to look narrowly at Iraq and not focus on these broader issues.”
I recognize each of the individual words as English, but strung together as they are, they make no sense at all to me.
