Nutsy Putzy
WMD...

In the face of evidence agreed upon by hundreds of climate scientists, George Taylor holds firm. He does not believe human activities are the main cause of global climate change. ...
Taylor has held the title of “state climatologist” since 1991 when the legislature created a state climate office at OSU The university created the job title, not the state.
Taylor also holds a unique title: State Climatologist....In an exclusive interview with KGW-TV, Governor Ted Kulongoski confirmed he wants to take that title from Taylor. The governor said Taylor’s contradictions interfere with the state’s stated goals to reduce greenhouse gases, the accepted cause of global warming in the eyes of a vast majority of scientists.
...The Governor says, “I just think there has to be somebody that says, ‘this is the state position on this.’"

Rich industrialised nations must take the lead in cutting greenhouse gases since they bear the “unshirkable responsibility” for causing global warming, a Chinese official said on Tuesday.
The comments by a foreign ministry spokeswoman underscore China’s determination not to allow international action on climate change to undermine its economic development.
...power generating capacity in [China] in 2006 expanded by an amount equal to the entire capacity of the UK and Thailand combined.
...[Some Party hack] said on Tuesday China was serious about tackling climate change but needs time to introduce the advanced environmental technology available to developed countries.
Don’t worry, Comrade—I’m sure Hillary will sell you all ya want.
Mr Qin made clear that other countries should not expect too much of China.
*cough*
For eurosceptics, the European Court of Justice ruling in September 2005 was like giving a child a loaded gun. It opened the way for the European Union to designate a new class of pan-European crimes, and how they should be punished.
In Britain there was an outcry. In future decisions taken in Brussels could be applied to the British courts, denying parliament the right to determine what constituted a crime and levels of sentencing.
...The Commission’s decision this week to create common criminal rules for environmental crimes is seen by some as a sign that Brussels will take full advantage of the court ruling to stealthily advance EU powers.
[/subtlety]
But what is to stop zealous Brussels officials fulfilling the Napoleonic tendencies often ascribed to them by eurosceptics and laying down the law to member states?

As I rub my hands together.
I only started “blogging” because I needed an outlet for my frustration in the face of my state’s ridiculous government. When I was a kid, nobody would even say half the stuff one hear’s nowadays.
That being said...I’ve taken some notes on global warming and thought that I’d put a post together. Albeit I’m only an economist, not a climatologist. But, math being math, if you follow the numbers you’ll be taken to the conclusion that somebody is feeding chum to the fish.
I don’t expect to change anyone’s thinking. After all, you go to a tree trunk and yell and leaves don’t fall down.
But this is my state. And I do love it. Or, the memory of it. How a state of some 3-million found itself with a governor that decided we needed to lead the world in “greenness” is beyond me. But we re-elected him, so there are obviously a lot of people around above my paygrade.
There, I vented. But, if I may, when I finish my Greenstate Oregon rant, my I come back and let you know?
Thanks.
