Second, Al-Jazeera provides Nielsen points to American broadcasters by supplying them with dramatic footage, to which they are “addicted."

So can that be called a collaboration?  How does the affinity for “if it bleeds, it leads” actually impact American citizens’ view of the situation in Iraq?  How does it impact the Iraqis’ view?

Does a free press mean anyone ought to be allowed to publish anydamthing that attracts viewers, hence advertisers?  Or ought there to be come sort of code of conduct—yanno, like those held by professionals who recognize their place and contributions to society?  The article pointed out that when media outlets stopped covering ‘streakers’ at sports events, the practice died out.  Does that apply to the possible encouragement by media attention of insurgents terrorists?
