Combating Clinton’s portrayal of him as elitist and out of touch, Obama appeared more often in front of small [white] groups than the giant rallies of yore and in settings designed to highlight his regular-guyness. He and his wife, Michelle, ate Subway sandwiches [oooooo] with a working family in Beech Grove, Ind.; the candidate took deep drinks from a can of Budweiser [he *will* do anything!] at a VFW hall; shot a couple of basketball games of P-I-G [raaaacist! fatwa on way.] with neighborhood kids; and took his young daughters roller skating.
..erm, skates?

After the bolling fiasco, his people probably didn’t want to risk having him plant his face in the floor, or railing or whatever.
