March 11 (Bloomberg)—French police stormed the Sorbonne with clubs and tear gas to remove students who had occupied the Paris university to protest a new labor contract proposed by the government that would make it easier to fire young new hires.

...More than 1 million people took to the streets across France on March 7 to protest the new contracts, according to the General Labor Confederation, or CGT, France’s largest union. The police said it was half as many.

  1. I bet if they’d had to take Economics, they’d realise that being easier to fire makes them more likely to be hired in the first place.
