Mahdi Not So Dotty?
Mahdi Not So Dotty?
well, he is... but with focus, nonetheless
Will you not accept this invitation? That is, a genuine return to the teachings of prophets, to monotheism and justice, to preserve human dignity and obedience to the Almighty and His prophets?
The odd and unprecedented letter that AhmADjinniJihaddi The Mahdi in An Ill-Fitting Members Only Jacket sent to President Bush—Is it the Hadith required formal invitation to “revert” to Islam which Mohammed requires followers to proffer before launching jihad “reversion” by the sword?
Robert Spencer points out that it follows the form and notes that The Mahdi, himself confirms it.
When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, [which Christians are - according to Islam. e-C] invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them….If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya [the tax on non-Muslims specified in Qur’an 9:29]. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them. (Sahih Muslim 4294)
So next will be a call for Jizya. [aka “International Aid?"] Then . . .

Stoo also provides the translation to the last line in the Mahdi’s Missive: “‘Vasalam Ala Man Ataba’al hoda.’
What this means is:
‘Peace only unto those who follow the true path.’”

UPDATE: Yup; this is sizing up to be quite a milestone, despite Wolfie Blitzer’s lack of attention.
Friday Prayers Leader of Tehran Ayatollah Ahamd Jannati said in his second sermon this week that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s letter to his US counterpart had been divinely inspired.
Addressing hundreds of worshipers at Tehran University, Jannati reiterated, “The letter is spectacular, and when I say it is an inspiration from God, I really believe in it.”
The Friday preacher of Tehran added, “This was a historically unprecedented move, save for the late Imam Khomeini’s letter to (the former USSR President Mikhail) Gorbachev, which stunned everyone.” Describing Ahmadinejad’s letter to Bush as “astonishing and odd”, Jannati said, “I suggest everyone to read this letter. It should be read at schools and universities, and repeatedly broadcast from the country’s radio and TV networks.”
The Secretary of the Guardians Council also proposed that the letter’s text be included in text books, adding, “The messages in that letter are welcomed by the world nations, and yet no one else would have dared to write such a letter to the US President."
Yeah—no one would have ‘dared.’
From the demonstration at the US Embassy in Jakarta today:
["Erase Israel from the world map"]

I guess Irony is a post-7th-century concept…
or possibly Irany?
