"Let's kill the 'net!"
Die-hards who want everything on the Net to be free need to realize that they have lost the war, says Technologyreview.com columnist Henry Jenkins. The good news, he argues, is that a new twist on micropayments is raising the likelihood that you'll be able to pay tiny sums of money for small slivers of information. Today, it's comic strips for a quarter--but the system introduced by BitPass could work for all manner of digital content.
At this price reading the comics page in the daily paper would cost about $5.
