It's the Borders, Stupid!
Dubya—are the doors locked at your house?
The “Naco Line”. Mexico on the left. Arizona on the right. Arizona and Mexican mountain range is background to the east. (Huachuca Mountains)
The citizenry is not happy.
Mexico is encouraging its citizens to ignore US law and run like lemmings North across the border with it’s little “comic book.” Agustín Pradillo, the press envoy at the Mexican Consulate in San Francisco defends the book:
"A guide to the dangers that you’ll encounter in the Middle East is not going to encourage (Americans to go there),” he said.
“Providing such information will not increase the number of immigrants who come,” said Mark Silverman, a lawyer for the Immigrant Legal Resource Center. “As long as Mexicans earn $5 in Mexico and $60 a day in the U.S., they’re going to come.”
“On the one hand, the Mexican government defends the right of Mexican immigrants moving into the U.S. illegally, but on the other hand they do not treat Central American immigrants well who… pose no threat to Mexico whatsoever,"
Gooses… Ganders… *sigh*
The US-Mexican border, separated by only a broken, rusty barb wire fence. This is the U.S. idea of border protection. (View is looking into Mexico)
So, Dubya. *ahem* Over here, Mr President. Look us in the eye. We’re in danger. We’ve just been insulted. What are you planning to do about it?
Despite his signing a bill authorizing 2,000 new border agents, President Bush will not ask Congress for enough money to fund them.
Tens of thousands of debris sites, like the one pictured in Arizona, are scattered throughout the entire 2,000 mile U.S.- Mexico border.
Alrighty, then.... Oh, and Asa and Norm won’t let us “racially profile?” So we can’t stop anyone who looks like a clown-car full of 20 or 30 young Mexican and Arabic males heading North? Oh, but you can stop little old ladies with bouncy terriers and strip-search ‘em? Good thinking. knothead…
Well, y’all may have forgotten that you’re dealing with the American people, here. Not Canadians, eh?
A retired California businessman, James Gilchrist [BAJ, BSBA, MBA (Taxation), CPA (Ca.)], a combat-wounded U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran, ...has 240 volunteers ready for a 30-day aerial and ground surveillance campaign on the Arizona-Mexico border to highlight what he calls the government’s failure to control illegal immigration.
Billed as “Americans doing the job Congress won’t do,” the project is intended to showcase inadequate border- and immigration-enforcement policies by the U.S. government…
“We hope to bring enough attention also that we can send a message to our leaders in Washington, D.C., that this is our country,
too,” he said. “This border issue is about all 50 states, not just Arizona or Texas. It’s about our Constitution and how it applies to all of us. We’re looking for this nation to again be guided by the rule of law ..."
HooRah, Mr Gilchrist! ‘Cept, it is not “our country too.” It is our country. Period. Congress et al are our employees. Those fat fools They serve the American people at the pleasure of the American people.

"In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a brave and scarce man, hated and scorned. When the cause succeeds, however, the timid join him...for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.”
