Simply put, the question is: Is Edwards a phony? Or is he speaking from the heart? Of course it's impossible to know what Edwards feels inside. But it is possible to say this: He does a very good job of looking like a phony.
Remind me again what Edwards has done in his 20 minutes on the floor? North Carolinians? Anyone? Bueller? . UPDATE: Kerry on Edwards in January:
`In the Senate four years — and that is the full extent of public life — no international experience, no military experience," Mr. Kerry said in January. "When I came back from Vietnam in 1969, I don't know if John Edwards was out of diapers..."
Edwards was, what?, 16 then... If he wasn't out of diapers, *that's* a campaign ad I don't wanna see.
