Alistar Wanklin [on the raadio] reports on the dramatic lead up to the very important Uh-bama Berlin speech. An hour before The Candidate for Germany is due to arrive:
"There is almost a carnival atmosphere here with music, lots of beer and people in silly hats."
But wait.... a moment of uncertainty? With the nooz reporting “a million person crowd” is Uh-bama suddenly not-so-keen?
“I doubt we’re going to have a million screaming Germans — let’s tamp down expectations here," Mr. Obama told reporters as he flew here from Tel Aviv, joking that he only recently learned that his audience was expected to be so large. “We’re sort of on the high-wire all of the sudden."
You just notice that, Genius?
"They were presidents, I am a citizen,” Mr. Obama said. “But obviously Berlin is representative of the extraordinary success of the post World War II effort to bring the continent together and to bring the West together. Then, later to bring the East and the West together. So I think it’s a natural place to talk."
Maybe if we’d had someone more experienced making that post WWII deal, President Reagan would never have had to call to “tear down this wall.”
