The Truth About Hillary; what she knew, when she knew it and how far she’ll go to become President
Edward Klein

Here are my notes on things I want to remember and keep track of.  There are many interesting little things in the book, such as a description of Hillary’s longest time/closest advisor [she is never described as having a friend] Susan Thomases, an old girlfriend of Harold Ickes [actually pronounced ICK-eez] “bred in the bone leftist, screamer of obscenities and a fearless practitioner of the politics of intimidation.  Thomases is quoted, “I have a very strong reality principle...” I never heard that phrase before, still don’t quite comprehend it, and wonder if it is an early version of the “reality based community.” See?  Interesting bits and pieces.

-- Don’t ever say anything you wouldn’t want to have printed on the front page of the NYT

The book got some poor initial publicity.  Bogus stories.  All that sensationalized yadda yadda about “Klein says Bill raped Hillary” is BS.  Klein quoted Bill, after a rowdy party, as saying, “I’m going back to my cottage to rape my wife.” Then Klein quoted an unnamed ‘investment banker’ as saying he saw the Clintons’ room torn up the next morning and assumed that Hillary had been pissed.  That’s it; that’s the whole story, according to Klein.  Not quite a Drudge headline.

-------------------------

Hillary worked very hard as a newbie in DC on the Nixon impeachment inquiry, drafting reports on the historical deeds of presidents through JFK and LBJ which made Nixon’s ‘crimes’ look petty.  The report was not released. [check back in 2020]

"Now with our inquiry as a precedent, future Congresses may recoil from ever again exercising this power.  They may read the history of our work and conclude that impeachment can never again succeed unless another precedent demonstrates the same, almost uncanny, ability to impeach himself.  If this is our legacy, our future colleagues may well conclude that ours has been a pyhrric victory, and that impeachment will never again justify the agony we have endured.”
written by John Conyers D-MI, [yeah, that one] in a separate opinion to the Judiciary Committee Impeachment Report, President Richard Nixon.

Peter Rodino, Chair House Judiciary Committee—John Doar, special council of the impeachment inquiry—Hillary Rodham, Doar’s favorite staff member.

-------------------

Paul Johnson:  “Hillary gave an ideological edge to Clinton’s general fuzziness when he got to the White house She also stuck a feminist finger in the appointment pies… sometimes with embarrassing, indeed hilarious, results.” eg: Tara O’Toole, asst secy of energy, a member of a Marxist women’s reading circle; Roberta Achtenberg, asst. secy for fair housing, militant lesbian and BSA foe; Joyceleyn Elders, Eleanor Acheson [granddaughter of Dean Acheson] open lesbian, made “Vote for Hillary’s Husband” buttons, asst atty general; Donna Shalala; Janet Reno.

Hillary is repeatedly described as a gender feminist who can identify with the ideals of ‘gender feminism’ and ‘political lesbianism’ without subscribing to its sexual component.  [Christina Hoff Sommers: “The leaders and theorists of the women’s movement believe that our society is best described as a patriarchy, a ‘male hegemony’ a sex/gender system in which the dominant gender works to keep women cowering and submissive.  The feminists who hold this divisive view… believe we are in a gender war, and they are eager to disseminate stories of atrocity that are designed to alert women to their plight.  The ‘gender feminists’ ... believe that all our institutions… perpetuate male dominance.” Believing that women had to break away from their dependence on powerful men to create an alternative to the “brutal patriarchal system.” ]

Yeah, I noted a certain *irony alert* in that, too.

-------------------

During her 1st Senate race, Hillary had trouble with: the Jewish vote, particularly observant Jews, for her involvement, some secret, with Muslim groups and her open support of Yessir Arabfat/PLO; Pat and Liz Moynihan - both disliked her intensely.  Liz Moynihan is quoted, “She’s duplicitous.  She would say or do anything that would forward her ambitions.  She can look you straight in the eye and lie, and sort of not know she’s lying.  Lying isn’t a sufficient word; it’s distortion—distorting the truth to fit the case.”

I once worked with someone like that.  He would say whatever was most advantageous to him at the moment, and actually believe it when he said it. [yep, RH/TSI]

---------------------

Klein: “Asked by a reporter how she thought the American people would react to the attack on the WTC and the Pentagon now that they were on ‘the receiving end of a murderous anger,’ Hillary [said]

‘Oh, I am well aware that it is out there.  One of the most difficult experiences that I personally had in the White House was during the health-care debate, being the object of extraordinary rage. ...Seattle ...speech about health care… Radio talk-show hosts had urged their listeners to come out and yell and scream and carry on and prevent people from hearing me speak.  There were threats and==that were coming in, and ...they started taking weapons off people and arresting people.  I’ve had firsthand looks at this unreasoning anger and hatred that is focused on an individual...’

Interesting answer.

----------------------
Lots of info about how she managed to woo and charm [?!? - yeah, I know...] the members of the men’s club Senate; Kennedy, Byrd…

----------------------
Her amazing fund-raising machine and celebrity status amongst DhimmoCrap fat cats and how she raises piles for other Dem candidates thereby empire building in the best old boy/favor-for-favor manner.

Klein:  “However, in the event that Kerry won the election and was able to seize control of the DNC, Hillary hedged her bets.  She encouraged Harold Ickes to join with George Soros in setting up a group called Americans Coming Together.  The goal of this group was to raise several hundred million dollars in soft money and, in effect, strip the DNC of its main role as a fund-raising machine for candidates and causes.”

Also inset up ‘below-the-radar’ campaign HQ in the offices of Glover Park Group [Carter Eskew, Joe Lockhart.  Gigi Georges, Howard Wolfson, Patti Solis Doyle-national director of HILLPAC
----------------------

Klein quoting Barbara Olson:  “The supreme irony is that this 2960s liberal… has become ever more darkly Nixonian in her outlook and methods—though without Nixon’s knowledge, statesmanlike substance, and redemptive Quaker conscience…

“President Nixon’s ‘enemies list’ ignited a political fire-storm when it became public.  But ...Hillary’s creation of a taxpayer-funded political database created scarcely a ripple from watchdogs of civil liberties… Such an idea—no less than the raid on Vince Foster’s office or the accumulation of FBI files for a White House blackmail database—could only come from the mind of someone who thinks like Nixon.  And it apparently did—from Hillary..., Nixon’s disciple of hardball politics.”

[that’s my favorite bit]

---------------------
Klein ends with the insight of Stanley Renshon [The Psychological Assessment of Presidential Candidates

Ambition is a form of “healthy narcissism,” and the key to achievement.  “Some children, hwoever, ...retain their sense that they are different, special, entitled and ultimately not to be limited by conventional bnoundaries.

“These are people whose ...ends justify any means.  Often this leads to a tendency to cut corners,...less than forthcoming, to portray things always in the best light...”

---------------------

Nixon on Hillary after meeting her at the White House in March of 1993:

“All of this ... deliberating over Bosnia makes [Bill Clinton] look weak.  We’ve got to get our allies, the Congress,a nd the people to go along.  Instead of ,i>telling them what we are going to do, [Bill Clinton] is looking for their permission!  this isn’t leadership.  He doesn’t scare anybody...”

Then Nixon added as though he had a sudden insight:
Hillary inspires fear.”

Recommended if you have the time/interest.  Not the one if you’re only going to read one Hillary book.
