I love the 4th!!
like old times… *sigh*
As I was going to Safeway for the second time today, I realized I was driving highway speeds!!! On the highway! That hasn’t happened for, oh… 10 years.
I dunno where everyone is but I sure as hell hope they like it a lot and stay there. It felt like having my home back.
And here’s a treat that came to me as a craving:
a tub of exxtra good sour cream
3/4 that much Best Foods Mayo
2 pkg frozen spinach chopped fine
1 Vidallia onion chopped fine
a coupla handfuls of pinoles [aka pine nuts]
a scant shake of crumbled feta to taste
It’s supposta be a dip for french bread [or pugalese] bits but I can’t stop eating it with a fork! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
A Big Salad With Everything which includes: carrots, celery, red leaf and green leaf - butter lettuce, too if feeling extravagant - green onion bits, finely chopped broccoli flowers, any other veggies in the fridge, top with freshly made bacon [I use the pepper coated, thick stuff and slice it into bits before I put it into the pan] cranraisins with orange essence, sliced honey roasted almonds and croutons.
Add in grilled tri tip and chicken, some fruit salad, deviled eggs [with bacon] that dip above and various other horse dervies and *poof* picka-nicka!
Oh yeah—finish with a chocolate cake frosted with [real with just a teaspoon of vanilla and a tablespoon of powdered sugar per pint for stability] whipped cream with fresh strawberries cut up in, and strawberries and blueberries on top arranged to resemble the flag!
