Hot Dang!!

Michael Williams, Master of None, is certainly master of the dare. In response to my challenge, he has answered the first of three challenging theses: The Chinese Room Argument. Michael, you taught me something and cost me $10 to the Castle Argghhh!! -- Fighting Fusileers for Freedom Fund! Well done, Michael. Only two [2] to go! bwahahahahaha

  1. Thanks smile I am picking and choosing the interesting dares, however.

  2. Sporting?  You decide.

  3. The problem with the Chinese room problem is that it is poorly conceived.  At the cellular level, all a brain is doing is following instructions.  What we think of as intelligence is probably an emergent property of the totality of the equipment and the rule sets, and there is no real reason that mind cannot arise if the equipment is silicon and copper instead of protein and neural transmitters.

If you don’t know what it is or where it comes from in the first place, making up rules about what it can and cannot come from can be a tad silly.
