Claire, sorry to post this unrelated response here. I just wanted to say that you are right. My remark was an extreme way of saying that if the Iranian political situation can be dumbed down (as is being constantly dumbed down by some of the people I took aim at) to a “mullah” versus “people” conflict, and bringing democracy to the people means kicking out the mullahs, then the government-people relationship in the U.S. is also one between rich people and drones. I can see how that might not come across quite the way I’m explaining it here… but it was 1:57 AM when I wrote it and I was extremely angry, and I think I stop making sense when I’m angry, which is in part why I stopped writing that blog. No offense intended.
