From the Dept of: "If ya want it done right ya gotta do it yourself"

Go! California State Assemblyman Ray Haynes (R-Riverside County) Go!

It’s time to stop complaining about Washington not doing its job.
It’s time to ENFORCE THE LAW and PROTECT OUR OWN BORDER…

Facts About The California Border Police Initiative:
--The California Border Police will be established under a law passed by Congress in 1996 that specifically authorizes states to enforce federal immigration law.
--California Border Police officers will be authorized to patrol the border and enforce all federal immigration laws statewide, including laws against employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
--The California Border Police Initiative will save state taxpayers at least $10 for every one dollar it costs.
--The California Border Police will be sworn and trained police officers, not volunteers.

“We’ve got to quit whining about the feds,” Haynes said. “California suffers a disproportionate share of the costs of illegal immigration, and the other 49 states aren’t very interested in helping out.”

Rescue California, which gathered more than 1.4 million signatures to recall Davis in 2003, is preparing for a signature-gathering effort for the proposed ballot measure. The proposal was turned in Wednesday to the state attorney general’s office for a title and summary.

Responses varied…

Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, D-Los Angeles, said he had not reviewed Haynes’ initiative. “But if it requires spending more state dollars, I think we have to take a second look at that because we do have to be fiscally prudent,"

This from a fella who’s never seen a spending bill he didn’t like…

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles accused backers of the proposed initiative of seeking publicity without addressing the causes of illegal immigration.

“This initiative just pretends that if you just take care of enforcement, the immigration problem will go away,” said Alvaro Huerta, a coalition spokesman. “But people are fleeing poverty, and we have a huge backlog of people who want to become citizens."

Say, Alvaro—didn’t your Mama ever teach you that charity begins at home?  And didn’t your professors teach you that it is disrespectful and might even be construed as racist to assume it is your job to stick your nose in and “try” to “fix” your neighbor’s problems?

Do you even realize that you’re saying that—at the same time—the US has no right to protect herself and that the US has every responsibility to step into the affairs of another country and solve their problems with the explicit assumption that they are too dam dumb to wipe their own noses.  Think that through, eh?

  1. Too priceless, a Dem worrying about spending!  I swear to god, if Arnold & Co would back the Dems into a corner on this, the Dems would wilt. America supports border patrol, but both parties are too ascared of the mythical Hispanic street

  2. This one could be fun to watch. I can see that initiative passing something like sixty-five to thirty-five, maybe even more lopsidedly.
I can also see the pollsters blowing big time because they’ll slant the questions so that nobody will admit publicly to being for it.  The questions will be phrased something like: Are you going to vote for this vicious, racist measure?
Then the entire Left will be screeching fraud when people vote for it. It hardly ever fails. The Left puts out fraudulant polls and then when the votes don’t match, they scream bloody murder.
