Found Him!
not in Reno Rio...

We’re so honored that Vice President Gore is appearing for Barbara [Boxer] in Los Angeles this weekend. After all, we know that no matter who Barbara’s ultimate opponent is — Carly Fiorina, Tom Campbell, or Chuck DeVore — this may be one of the toughest re-election campaigns that we’ve ever had.
[*snigger* you betcha!]
...That’s why we’re running this online contest — to select a lucky winner and a guest to join Vice President Gore and Senator Boxer at a special lunch event in Los Angeles on Saturday. And if you don’t live in Los Angeles, no problem: Our campaign will cover your airfare and hotel accommodations, too. ...Contribute $10 or more before 5 p.m. PT today
Gore supporting Boxer may be a good thing. The charismatic Big Al may just drive people away in droves from the Boxer camp.
There’s another factor, though. Both Fiorina and Whitman are being promoted as successful businesswomen who made their fortunes by running successful companies. This certainly true (though Fiorina didn’t do all that well when she ran HP). The problem is that running a big business and running a state government are just not comparable. Running a state government is a little like herding cats.
When you run a company, you can lay people off and close down divisions when they’re unprofitable. When you’re trying to run California, you can’t just tell senators and assemblymen to pack up and go home. You can’t tell a bunch of union workers to go away. (L.A. mayor Villagairosa is trying to do that even now, and everybody is crying “lay the other guy off”.)
Both Fiorina and Whitman are richer than Croseus (as are Boxer, Pelosi, and Feinstein), so the story is they won’t be bribeable. So is Schwarzenegger, but that still didn’t help him when it came to herding cats.
