Foie Gras Saga Continues

A potential settlement in a legal battle over foie gras production could mean some trespassing allegations are dropped from a suit against animal rights activists ... [Bryan] Pease, speaking from London, where he said is [sic] networking with other animal rights activists, said: "I'm satisfied with the agreement. [emph. mine - C]

Yeah. "Networking" In cells no doubt. Far, far from the reach of California trespassing suits. Ok let's see if'n I got this straight? Domestic Terrorists have done the following:

-- Break and Enter an historic building, damage it, vandalize a not-yet-open restaurant, and damage a non-related dress shop next door -- Break into two [2] homes, spray-paint the buildings, etch slogans on the windows with acid, pour glue in locks, cover a statue of a Buddha [ ?!? ] with red paint and splash acid all over a car. -- At the scene of that crime, they leave evidence of another crime; a video tape of one of the business owners and his children taken surreptitiously. That message is obvious, "we can mess with your house, we can mess with your family, we can mess with your mind." -- Broke and entered another business, this time taking a LAT reporter with them, and stole four ducks, which later died in their care.

Not only do they threaten human children, and adults, vandalize homes, break into businesses, and steal animals -- they cannot even properly care for those animals for whom they purport to care so much. Loosers . . . As the saying goes, I am not a lawyer, and this case is complex with all the suits and counter suits. The Domestic Terrorists can launch as many nuisance suits as they like -- after all it's not their money. Probably Susan Sarandon's. Plenty more where that came from. These business owners are like so many of us -- operating within a defined margin without a lot of room to fight nuisance suits and repair damage intentionally caused them because someone disagrees with their businesses. But I sorely wish that there were a higher penalty to be exacted upon these Domestic Terrorists. Their claims are false, their tactics reprehensible and they're lowering the standards of just what is an acceptable form of "protest." If they are allowed to get away with these crimes, it will encourage other "protesters" to similar acts and in that kind of atmosphere, we all suffer.
