I put this on another blog somewhere:
First, a definition: “the policy of settling international quarrels by admitting and satisfying grievances through rational negotiation and compromise, thereby avoiding the resort to an armed conflict which would be expensive, bloody, and possibly dangerous.”
Second, does any of that sound like it might apply to the speech?
Third, here’s the word: Appeasement. (The definition comes from the Wikipedia site.)
