Dear McPalin,
ktksbai
I am accustomed to being called a moron by the effete liberals and the DNC, but now you are calling me a moron?!? That’s hardly “Maverick.”
Now I hear you’re not going to hit the D’s hard on the Freddie/Fannie boondoggle: why?
1) It is a complicated argument, and McCain is not good at making complicated arguments, not even about earmarks. (Note, additionally, his lack of defense of the war in Iraq during his debate with Obama. Amazing.)
2) There is a racial component to criticism of the Community Reinvestment Act that can make it sound like you are scapegoating minorities for Wall Street’s problems.
3) The campaign believes McCain’s time is better spent talking about taxes and energy and healthcare. Really.
It’s time to get good at it - and get on it.
PS - pointing out the inherent racism in lowering the rational market standards of who qualifies for a loan and the campaign by D’s to keep those standards lowered in the face of self-evident coming troubles is not, I repeat NOT “racist.” If anyone slings that at you, point out how they have entirely missed the point and continue revealing the history and the facts.
Dammit.
McCain needs to figure out that this isn’t mud...it’s gold.
