Some reactions:

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW):
appalling ....cterized by a complete rejection of the modern legal framework supporting our federal system ..."Most recently, in an April 24th speech, she further revealed her far-right views by proclaiming these are “perilous times for people of faith”—times which she compared to a religious war. She went on to blame multiculturalism for turning against any religion with an absolute sense of right and wrong. “

wait, checking.....  yes, it does say Council of Jewish Women.  hmmm… goes on to say, “NCJW is a volunteer organization, inspired by Jewish values,” uh.... uhm.....

The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR):
“Alarming and embarrassing” ..."Republicans used one of the oldest tricks in the book to ram through Janice Rogers Brown’s confirmation,” said Wade Henderson, LCCR’s Executive Director.  “They exploited her race and gender to obscure her ...record."

I think what you found more embarrassing is having let that “oldest trick” admission slip out.  bwahahahaha

David D. Kirkpatrick NYT:

Society and the courts have turned away from the founders’ emphasis on personal responsibility, [Brown] has argued, toward a culture of government regulation and dependency that threatens fundamental freedoms. ... “We no longer find slavery abhorrent,” she told the conservative Federalist Society a few years ago. “We embrace it.” She explained in another speech, “If we can invoke no ultimate limits on the power of government, a democracy is inevitably transformed into a kleptocracy - a license to steal, a warrant for oppression.”

...such remarks are evidence of extremism.

...her speeches are filled with allusions to writers including Cicero, the apostle Paul, Abraham Lincoln, Samuel Beckett, Ayn Rand, Gertrude Himmelfarb, Friedrich von Hayek and the comedian Chris Rock.

...She concluded [one] speech, “We’ve had to decide before: whether to be slaves or free."

Yes, I b’lieve I see why the Socialist Left is so het up about Justice Brown’s confirmation.

*snork*
