Calling All Mac-o-philes!

or a G4 really shouldn't do that... I'm having a little, uh... incidence where the screen [iMac 17" G4 OSX 10.2.6] suddenly goes bright pink. Everything is still visible and operable -- it's just overlaid with bright pink. Today it changed to bright lime green [yech] Any ideas?

  1. I could be wrong, but it sounds like you might need a new monitor.  Three years ago, my monitor kept flickering from a cyan/aqua tint to normal, so I rushed right out and got a new monitor.

I don’t think anything bad would necessarily happen if you don’t replace it.  It would just be annoying ultimately.

  2. AG,

A five month old iMac *really* shouldn’t do that…

I have this kind where a new monitor alone is not really an option.

You *have* confirmed my suspicion that I’m looking at a hardwre problem.  *sigh*

  3. You can’t contact Apple ‘bout this? It shouldn’t be doing this… oh well, get to Windows or Linux already!

  4. I am fighting taking this beastie in and losing four (4) days or more.

    [btw:  windoze—eeeewwww!]

  5. Yeah, get a real operating system like Windows already. smile Bright pink means the Green gun isn’t firing properly or somethin like that.

Claires monitor’s turned pinko commie! hahahahaha!

But seriously, Apple should do something about it, like giving you a new machine or something drastic like that. My 19” Viewsonic crapped out on me and only today I sent it out for repair. 4 days without the mac is tough. I couldn’t live without my lil iBook. I feel yer pijn!

  6. Apple’s repair service is great. I had to send my iBook off twice and got it back within the same week both times. Plus, everything including the shipping is covered in your warranty. Give them a call, they’ll get you fixed up.

  7. Sounds like a monitor problem, if you’re under warranty, I’d have it replaced—or if you’re near an Apple Store take it in.

  8. Yes, I had to succumb and take the little darling to the hospital where they are refitting her as we type . . .  Apple is good, but I miss the glow of her screen . . .  *sigh*
