But ask for some kink...

It sure is ... um, interesting... when the predatory instinct gets confused with the reproductive instinct. It sure is ... uhm, interesting... when the predatory instinct gets confused with the reproductive instinct. I realize they both originate in the limbic hind-brain which is all about survival, and therefore, not particularly contemplative. But it seems to me that confusion of these two instincts is the underlying motive force behind the Paint-Ball Bambi game.

"The main goal is to be as true to nature as possible. I don't go deer hunting and see a deer with a football helmet on so I don't want to see one on my girl either," [emph. mine, ed.]

Still, I'm thinkin' that that the confusion of these instincts is why the Paint-ball Bambi story creeps out most women, and excites most men. I know, I know; men and women come at the sexuality/reproductive question from different angles... Men are in charge of Quantity Control while women take the responsibility of Quality Control. Hence [some] men's "anything that moves and most things that don't" approach and [some] women's "email me your Eqifax and we'll talk -- maybe" outlook. Two things I saw that are indicative of the underlying conflict in the men who think Hunting Bambi is so hot: The name of the company that sponsors the events is Real Men Outdoor Productions. Now add that as an answer the the dilemma described in the quote below in Comments to Kelley's first article.

Can you say supply and demand? The demands of men who have been "pussyfied" by work/school/home.

I cant tell a women she`s "attractive" at work, nothing more than a complement. Without being labeled crude and un-professional. Then sent to mandatory counseling to curb my anti-social behavior. Why did she buy the rudy red lipstick and have her nails done anyway??

...Then we have our home life, busting our balls to keep the roof over our collective heads. But ask for some kink. Try getting her into the little nightie you bought for her. Suddenly we`re "objectifying" women. ...Excuse me but how the fuck do you think the kids got here?? You reap what you sow Ladies..........Now your surprised we wanna shoot you??

[partial quote, paragraphs added for clarity, emphasis mine; otherwise (sic) ed.]

This guy is angry. He is feeling like he has put way too much into the world and is getting nothing in return that satisfies him. No recognition of his efforts or of his validity as a man. Anger and resentment build and find potential for expression through the predator instinct. I think he is not alone in his feelings of having lost some vital form of personal power. He is focusing on women as the withholders of that vital power because it is from women that he seeks the recognition of his efforts and his validation as a man. Thus his anger turns toward them. It goes back to that old saw about validation being an "inside job," meaning that one must approve of oneself first and foremost. Approval and recognition from others is wonderful but it won't get one through the long, dark night of the soul. Before y'all jump me, this is not agreement; it is an attempt at recognition of how some men see themselves in this position and the effects this perspective may have on them, and on those around them. I reference this particular comment simply because it states this perspective and the resultant feelings very well. One thing about the commercial aspects of this doesn't pass the "sniff test," though. I understand that it may increase the exciting "competitive" and "natural" aspects of the "hunt" for the "prey" to be working hard to avoid the "kill." But if these women are actually what is euphemistically known as "escorts," they are professionals and being "bagged" after the hunt is additional service, if you will, for which a pro would charge an additional fee, not accept a discounted fee. Maybe the Bambis need to unionize and strike for better wages... Nothing profound here, people. Move along, move along.
