Just got another missive from the requonquistas at aztlan.net.  I’m always most nterested in the communiqués in Espanglish—I think they think they’re excluding la Gringa.  El ha ha.

Resalta el bloque de países con gobiernos
de izquierda en la región

With emphasis on the block of governments of countries of the left in the region

Venezuelan President Hugo Chaves announced [proclaimed] yesterday the beginning of a “new era” in Latin America, where is formed a “block of major force [power/strength/cogency]” of countries with leftist governments to reiterate their warning to the United States against an invasion of Venezuela or Iran.

[trans. getting looser, now]
Nothing heretofore has brought together latin America to be so defined under a common route [method/way/goal]

“Dis is a beeeg day,” said Hugo hugging his new bestest buddies, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Néstor Kirchner, presidentes of Brasil and Argentina.

In a speech that lasted 3 and a half freakin’ hours in front of hundreds of sympathizers [supporters] in London, the Big Queso of SouthAmerica pointed out, together with Lula and Kirchner, “this is a consolidation [bringing together] of an *axis* of patriotism” in LatinAmerica and “this movement is released [started/freed??] such that no one will be able to stop it.”

Also I praise big time our new ally in the region, the Enchalada largo of Bolivia, Evo Morales, whose country has participated in “the geopolitical heart” of LatinAmerica, juuust like his fetish inamorata heeero, Feeedel Castroil.
[pretty sure about this bit—help *is* solicited and welcomed]

Also, he reported that [denounced] the “overdose [kid you not] of neoliberalism” [idiom?] which has injected into the region capitalist institutions like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

"Socialismo o barbarie.

Socialism or barbarianism [savagery/cruelty].
[or ‘Socialism or beards’—same thing, I guess...]

He aquí el dilema.

And here is the problem.  Socialism is the road, the way [route/course of action] to advocate for “building a new socialist project” to [for the purpose of] “slow the perverse march of savage [uncultivated/cruel/brutal/nikulturni] capitalism and save the world.

{alrighty thennn}

In another part of his speech, Chaves again warned BushCo against invading Venezuela or Iran and emphasized “NO BLOOD FOR OOOOOIL!”

{sheesh}

He repeated that “Iran is not Iraq” and that an possible attack of Washington to [for the purpose of] restrain the nuclear ambitions of Tehran constitutes “a threat to all of us.”

{he sure is over-identifying with the Mahdi in an Almond Dinner Jacket...}

“If the US launches an invasion against Iran, it will be worse than Iraq,” an ungovernable place where “imperialism won’t know how to get out”, say the governors [rulers] of Latin America, who judge the Iraq conflict to be “the Vietnam of the 21st Century.”

{Howard Dean is on line 2 and Teddy Kennedy is on line 3, Sr Chavez}

In his visit to Camden Centre [London] adorned with Venezuelan flags for the occasion, Chaves was joined by the mayor of London, Ken Livingstone and others.

Chavez ain’t a’gonna be received by Tony Blair on this visit.  According to 10 downing, Blair will not meet with Chavez because his visit is characterized as ‘private’ and Chavez did not ask to meet.

{yeah—that must be it}

Ok—so there may not be a Commie under my bed, but there sure is a pile of ‘em in London today.  And the hive is abuzz.

Now I know why the Aztlantians sent this in code Spanglish.  BTW, dida hear much about the US slapping a full arms ban on Venezuela [preventing all US military sales and trying to prevent re-sales from other countries of US arms] because of their ‘close associations with terrorism-sponsoring states of Cuba and Iran’ and outright championing the damn terrorists in Iraq.  Official Venezuelan arms have been found in the hands of Colombian terroristas.  The ban does not cover US purchase of Venezuelan OOOOOIL. *cough*

“We don’t want to suspend oil exports to anywhere and we’ve never done that . . . but I can’t answer if Venezuela would suspend oil to the US if there was a war with Iran,” President Chávez said in London. Iran is the second largest oil producer in Opec, and Venezuela produces similar volumes to the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, in joint third place.

Yep—OPEC bu..buddies.

The British ‘press’ calls him the “Vivacious Venezuelan” and describes his reception as ‘remarkably warm.

  1. Red Ken, the mayor of London is a long time, dyed in the wool, socialist. His support of this little despot is neither surprising nor unexpected.
