Attacking on all fronts

‘It pays to be aware of your surroundings’—The Mister

Escaping by the skin of their teeth, the NYFD declined in the nick of time the ...pleasure of having an Islamic radical as its resident Imam.

Imam Intikab Habib, 30, a native of Guyana who studied Islam in Saudi Arabia, said he doubted the United States government’s official story blaming 19 hijackers associated with al-Quaida and Osama bin Laden.

“I as an individual don’t know who did the attacks,” said Habib, 30, a soft-spoken man who immigrated to New York in July 2000 after spending six years in Saudi Arabia getting a degree in Islamic theology and law. “There are so many conflicting reports about it. I don’t believe it was 19 ... hijackers who did those attacks.”

Asked to elaborate on his reasons for doubting that story, he talked about video and news reports widely disseminated in the Muslim community.

“I’ve heard professionals say that nowhere ever in history did a steel building come down with fire alone,” he said. “It takes two or three weeks to demolish a building like that. But it was pulled down in a couple of hours. Was it 19 hijackers who brought it down, or was it a conspiracy?

Here’s some of the responses to the incident from the ‘Moslem comuuuunity‘:

Dr. Abdul Jamil Khan, of Muttontown, semi-retired chairman of pediatrics at Brooklyn’s Interfaith Medical Center: “He is backing off because he made a boo-boo,” Khan said. “You can make many theories, but as a person who was going to be sworn into that sensitive position, he should have been very careful not to hurt others’ feelings.”

...I think the resolution was appropriate,” said Ibrahim Hooper,[CAIR] “People are people and they sometimes say things they shouldn’t,” he said, citing famous foot-in-mouth examples such as William Bennett and Pat Robertson.

...What happened to freedom of speech?” said Khankan, adding that Habib’s comments should not have rendered him jobless. “If he has a political opinion, it should not effect his work or his position. Before we condemn, we must investigate ... question the Imam further as to why does he believe this to be so.”

Khankan said there are many other people, in the Middle East and in America, who question the conclusions of 9/11.

Anybody have some extra pig statues?  I still have room on my desk.

  1. There’s a hotel in San Francisco, The Mansion, which is filled with porcine-ery.  Statues, sculptures, models, paintings; a veritable panoply of piggy-wiggery.

I saw we ALWAYS book these folks into this particular hotel.  ALWAYS.

Send ‘em some bacon from room service…
