Media working day and night to cut down on LATimes:Sinclair has told its stations — many of them in political swing states such as Ohio and Florida — to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal," sources said. The film, funded by Pennsylvania veterans and produced by a veteran and former Washington Times reporter, features former POWs accusing Kerry [he was in Viet Nam, you know...] of worsening their ordeal by prolonging the war. ...."It's not the American way for powerful corporations to strong-arm local broadcasters to air lies promoting a political agenda," said David Wade, a spokesman for the Democratic nominee's campaign. "It's beyond yellow journalism; ..."

*snork*

...Station and network sources said they have been told the Sinclair stations — which include affiliates of Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC, as well as WB and UPN — will be preempting regular programming for one hour between Oct. 21 and Oct. 24, depending on the city. The airing of "Stolen Honor" will be followed by a panel discussion, which Kerry will be asked to join, thus potentially satisfying fairness regulations, the sources said.

...think he'll show? With his signed 180 in hand? and pigs flying outta his ...ears? "Whoa, TeRAYzha -- there'll be bacon in the trees by morning!"

..."I can't think of a precedent of holding up programming to show a political documentary at a point where it would have the maximum effect on the vote," said Jay Rosen, chairman of New York University's journalism department.

Gee, if I think really really hard maybe *I* can... Gimmie a minute... *tick*tick*tick*tick*tick*tick*

Representatives of Michael Moore's anti-Bush "Fahrenheit Fat'n'Hate 9/11," which has grossed $214 million worldwide, are in talks for a deal to make the film available on pay-per-view cable the night before the election. The Sundance Channel plans to air live clips Monday from the anti-Bush "Vote for Change" rock concert.

Yep, non-biased, fair and to-the-bone, Joe Friday, "Just the facts ma'm" reporting. And if'n we don't hang these varmints from the highest tree, we're just as damn dumb as they think we are.

MSM out of the Closet!

"Fuggem," they say, "those jerks are too busy Loving Raymond to notice what we do."

Halperin Memo Dated Friday October 8, 2004 It goes without saying that the stakes are getting very high for the country and the campaigns - and our responsibilities become quite grave[.] I do not want to set off (sp?) and [an] endless colloquy that none of us have time for today - nor do I want to stifle one. Please respond if you feel you can advance the discussion. ...Kerry distorts, takes out of context, and mistakes all the time, but these are not central to his efforts to win. We have a responsibility to hold both sides accountable to the public interest, but that doesn't mean we reflexively and artificially hold both sides "equally" accountable when the facts don't warrant that. I'm sure many of you have this week felt the stepped up Bush efforts to complain about our coverage. This is all part of their efforts to get away with as much as possible with the stepped up, renewed efforts to win the election by destroying Senator Kerry at least partly through distortions. It's up to Kerry to defend himself, of course. But as one of the few news organizations with the skill and strength to help voters evaluate what the candidates are saying to serve the public interest. [sentence fragment] Now is the time for all of us to step up and do that right. [no referent for "that" -- do what right? /school marm]

Ok, so this little feller is a VP of a major news... well, "news" outlet and presumably has a degree in Journalism. Presumably he has taken English 101. Obviously he failed it. That screaming irony aside... I am particularly struck by his use of the term "artificially hold both sides 'equally' accountable." And why is equally in quotes? Are they bunny quotes or sneer quotes? What would be "artificial" about holding both sides equally [no quotes] accountable? I am wondering what particular facts, which he apparently assumes his readers already know, could possibly justify *not* holding both sides equally accountable? In his fragment sentence, he indicates that he believes his outfit to be smarter than "voters" who, he believes, need his great "strength and skill" to ever possibly, remotely be able to comprehend what the candidates are saying. Hmmm. Interesting. And to you, Halperin, you whlep, might I say, "thank you kindly for your offer of sneer quotes "help"/sneer quotes but, judging from your unprofessional ignorance of the most basic principles of journalistic integrity, your utter lack of competence which allowed this memo to become public, and your 6th grade writing skills demonstrating your utter inability to recognize a fact were it to bite you on the hienie, I believe I will decline." The truly odd thing in this, the age of the Pajama People, is that Drudge's pdf of the original memo is completely illegible. Odd, that.

Another pebble falls from the facade...

plonk

In a new paper, Kevin A. Hassett and John R. Lott Jr., economists at the American Enterprise Institute, the conservative research organization in Washington, say they have discovered that economic reporters commit the same archetypal sin: slanting the news unequivocally in favor of the Democrats. ...the Republicans received 20 to 30 percent fewer positive headlines, on average, for the same type of news, they concluded. ...The Associated Press were even more skewed.... this group gave Republican administrations 20 to 40 percent fewer positive headlines ..."We have not constructed tests that identify a motive for the bias," Mr. Hassett said. "A desire to aid the political fortunes of Democrats could explain the patterns we see in the data."

Newly coined phrase at Dan's house

Dammit, honey! The dog just made a Blitzer on the rug!"

"I want to emphasize: I stand by my president. We are in a time of war, and I stand behind my president.

Good thing W has a Kevlar wardrobe.

There is not joy in reporting such a story, but my job as a journalist is not to be afraid, and when we come with facts, and legitimate questions supported by witnesses and documents that we believe to be authentic,

Not that "we have determined to be authentic." Not "we have researched" or "fact checked," or "given somewhat more than a cursory glance at." "...we believe." Well *I* believe that blogging is gonna make me rich! I also believe that monkeys are gonna fly out my ass, so there ya have it.

to raise those questions no matter how unpleasant they are," Rather said Friday.

He sounds so adult. So responsible and fatherly and weighty. And I have this mental picture that on the inside he's giggling like a school-boy in a p0rn store.

"The story is true. The story is true," Rather said. "The questions raised in the story are serious and legitimate questions."

The docs may be fake, but the story is true, I tell ya! Look over here at the questions! Those papers -- they're part of the frequency!

Rather also said the possibility of issuing any kind of recant or apology was "not even discussed. Nor should it be."

Sure sounds a lot like: *fingers in ears* "Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala" Sad.

Ya Say Ya Wanna Revolution, weeell, yannooo

as Loony McMoonbat and Scary McWackjob sneak off with the sovereignty of the country formerly known as USA

[Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe]"OSCE members, including the United States, agreed in 1990 in Copenhagen to allow fellow members to observe elections in one another's countries," [Assistant Secretary of State Paul V.] Kelly wrote. "Consistent with this commitment, the United States has already invited the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to observe the November 2, 2004, presidential elections."

I'm insulted. I'm furious. I'm speechless. I'm nauseated. I'm livid. I'm disgusted. I'm dang near ready to exercise my Constitutional right to bear [and use] arms to protect my country. But our enemies have not chosen the forthright, honorable method of face to face confrontation. They have chosen to undermine with laws, lies and terror in the assumption that these cannot be fought with direct means. Suddenly -- though apparently it was given away in 1990-- we are a third world child-nation that requires watching by other, more capable, adult nations. Like the old granny the family "decides" cannot manage on her own and must be put into a death house rest home -- so they can get their grubby paws on her stuff. Feh! ptui.

However, state election authorities in Florida have already announced that such observers are not to be allowed access to the voting process and, in any case, they would have to remain at a distance of more than 50 feet from the polls.

There is no authority. No recourse. No access. No Point!! There is one point: to suck the pride and confidence out of the American citizen. To insult and shame the character of our nation. Make no mistake -- were such a thing still recognized in our culture, this would be considered a mortal insult. I believe we must recall the concept and treat it as such. We may have had problems and upsets and scandals and all manner of crap before, but we always handled it ourselves. By ourselves. Our way. That is was our right and our responsibility. Now, however, we are to be treated as children who can no longer handle our own business. This is an insult. It is an outrage. It cannot -- must not be borne. . Julia Carson of Indiana, Jerrold Nadler, Edolphus Towns , Joseph Crowley and Carolyn B. Maloney, all of New York, Raul Grijalva of Arizona, Corrine Brown of Florida, Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland, Danny K. Davis of Illinois, and Michael M. Honda and Barbara Lee of California. [needless to say -- all D-] And any and all in the State Dept. and Administration who acceded - capitulated - to this outrage. And most especially, Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson , D-Texas. May you be hung in effigy and made into a cartoon-like figure to be dragged about the countryside by your tinfoil hat with fire coming out your ass and tapioca oozing out your ears. Then may your names go down in history as worse blackguards than Benedict Arnold, Brutus and Judas. Then and only then may you take your place -- reserved especially for you -- in the Seventh Circle of Hell.

Moore Exposes Himself [eww] as a Girlie-Man!!!

Reports "there is no [bunny quotes] terrorist threat" Cowering in fear at the thought of a few good ol' boys from Crawford takin' him to the woodshed Throwing himself on the grenade for his party, War Profiteer Michael Moore chickened out stood steadfast in Bahstan instead of traveling to Crawford TX for the special showing of his Fat'n'Hate 911.

343@hotmail. com pw: wow">It's all about me, me being there, me versus Bush, Bush being a few miles down the road," Moore said

"It's all about meeeeeeeeee." First honest impression Moore's given since... well, since "More donuts! Now!!"

...Moore said that he didn't want the screening in Texas to detract from the Democratic National Convention.

Yeppo. Kerry might not have gotten enough delegate votes if MMoore had left Bahstan... [and the egosphere grows to claim yet another planet...] On the MSNBS video online there is an interview by Blumblerumble, NBC talking head:

Interviewer: "Why did you decide not to go to Crrawford?" M: The people in Crawford had been writing me for the last month...[blablabla] to ask me to bring the movie down there...

It took you a month to make that happen?!?!? Big, powerful director guy... But nevermind... [see the clip to watch petulance at its best -- upon being asked to hurry for time Moore says "well. I'll just stop right there." *rolls eyes*]

M: "Then I thought I should go down there... as a nice gesture. It's really turned into a big circus "

duh? isn't that what you do best? Donuts and Scandals Bread and Circuses?

Interviewer: "When you and I last spoke in February, you said, "There is no terrorist threat." M: "I never said that." I: "Yes you did, it's right here: 'There is no terrorist threat. There are acts of terrorism but there is no terrorist threat.' Have you changed your views in light of the 911 Report...?" M: [picture 13 y.o. valley girl] "*tsk*huh*tsk* whul... Do you live in NY? *huh* ...We all know how we feel...waiting for the last shoe to drop... " I: "Yes, I do... Have you changed your views in light of the 911 Report?" M: "How do you feel living in NY? huh? huh!?!" I: I guess we'll stop right here..."

Somewhere in there is a long rambling diatribe about Bush's terrorists having nothing to do with reality but those other terrorists being real and very scary... [Was MMoore even living in NY on 9/11/01? It just struck me that we've [I've] never heard his where-I-was-when-911-happened story. I've heard everyone else's. Like Chelsea wandering around mid-town that morning...] The whole stack of DhimmoCon spins and lies is wobbling more and more erratically. Seems to me the wheels are on fire and the center cannot hold.

The Secrets in Berger's Pants

Sandy gradually debriefed

July 29, 2004 -- WASHINGTON — Urgent complaints that the FBI could not decipher bugged conversations between members of a Brooklyn mosque and Afghan terrorists because it lacked translators were included in the documents former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger removed from the National Archives, The Post has learned. In the latest twist to the document scandal, investigators said the revelation about translators was among several criticisms of America’s ability to deal with the looming al Qaeda threat contained in the “after action” memo on the millennium terror plot that is at the center of the Berger probe. ...Government officials said the FBI had been conducting electronic surveillance of a mosque in Brooklyn frequented by Afghans in 1999 after developing information from the investigation of the U.S. embassy bombings in East Africa. Sources said the FBI had “hours” of taped conversations between people associated with the unidentified mosque and suspected terrorist leaders. But despite the potential intelligence value of the intercepted communications, stacks of tapes languished on the shelves at the FBI counter- terrorism center in downtown Manhattan because there were not enough translators. ...The report written by former White House counter-terrorism chief Richard Clarke also warned of the presence of al Qaeda cells inside the United States. It urged increased surveillance of Arab students coming into the United States and called for increased security at U.S. ports and other points of entry, investigators said.

Does anyone else sense Hillary's fine hand in this?

WASHINGTON (Hollywood Reporter) - When the Democratic Party takes up its platform next week at the presidential nominating convention in Boston, one of the planks it will consider is media concentration. While the one-sentence statement is buried deep in the 41-page document, its supporters contend that it is a recognition by the party that big media is becoming a threat to democracy. "Because our democracy thrives on public access to diverse sources of information from multiple sources, we support measures to ensure diversity, competition and localism in media ownership," the proposed platform plank states. Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y., who helped get the plank in the platform proposal said the 27-word statement points out a big difference between the two parties.

Considering that the majority of the TV media is clearly in favor of a Kerry/Dhimmocrat win in November [vis the utter lack of mention that what Berger did is a highly prosecutable offense not to mention endangering national security not to mention being a cover-up worthy of having its own ****-gate moniker] Considering the Leftie support of "Out-Foxed" Considering Marxist Missy Hilla-the-Hun's conviction that even the Lovely Interweb ought to be "controlled" to "prevent people from saying irresponsible things..." This bears closer scrutiny than it is getting. If we somehow screw the pooch as citizens and allow *anyone* to gain further control of 'media,' bloggers will be next. UPDATE: to be clear, I fully agree with the concept as stated -- it's just the agenda, motivations, personalities, plans and executions I distrust.

A Call: To Your Keyboards, Please

Didja read this story?

The bucolic island's deep reputation for civility got a gut check this week during the annual Grand Old Fourth of July celebration. That's when Jason Gilson, a 23-year-old military veteran who served in Iraq, marched in the local event. He wore his medals with pride and carried a sign that said "Veterans for Bush." Walking the parade route with his mom, younger siblings and politically conservative friends, Jason heard words from the crowd that felt like a thousand daggers to the heart. "Baby killer!" "Murderer!" "Boooo!" To understand why the reaction of strangers hurt so much, you must read what the young man had written in a letter from Iraq before he was disabled in an ambush: "I really miss being in the states. Some of the American public have no idea how much freedom costs and who the people are that pay that awful price. I think sometimes people just see us as nameless and faceless and not really as humans. ... A good portion of us are actually scared that when we come home, for those of us who make it back, that there will be protesters waiting for us and that is scary." On the Fourth, Jason faced his worst fear. It was such a public humiliation -- home front insult after battlefield injury.

Didja fume like I did? Do ya want to say something to this young soldier? As we knew she would be, SondraK is all over this like white on rice -- like holes in the Dhimmocratic Party Platform -- like flies on War Profiteer Michael Moore 's planetoid ass. [ok, grossed myself out with that one...] The man's name is Jason Gilson, and his mother's name is Tamar Gilson. They can be reached at this email: frodo5@comcast.net. Drop them a line and lend a little support, eh?

. . . and then, maybe

Jay Tea of Wizbang has a different perspective on the question of obliterating our borders with Meh-hee-ko. He reminds them of the many kinds of people we could then send over the border

Cops... Revenue agents... all our surplus social workers, social engineers, social scientists ... organizers from the AFL-CIO, the UAW, the UFW, and the NEA ... Michael Moore and his cameras. “Roger y mí,” anyone?

And if that weren't enough, Jay has one final threat that would surely scare the refritos outta anyone . . .

Hold That Line, Hey!

do you let random things fall into your mouth? do you let random things fall into your mouth? One of the most consistent indicators of sanity, other than a firm grasp of the obvious, is clear boundaries. When one loses the sense of where they begin and someone else ends, when someone starts "feeling another's pain" instead of empathizing with it, when someone starts making life choices based on someone else's needs and wants*, when someone else's opinion becomes more important or more valued than one's own, one has started down that slippery slope to mushy boundaries and giving up control of her own life. Aside from being a massively uncomfortable way to live, and not working very well in terms of being able to take care of one's own business, and annoying the other person[s], it is the first step in giving up control and integrity [or "wholeness".] [*as differentiated from doing someone a favor or a good turn or taking a loved one's desires into consideration] Integrity, being defined as a close match between one's principles and one's actions and choices, is the first casualty. When integrity goes, identity follows. As identity disintegrates, the person becomes fodder for predatory users -- cult leaders, charismatic 'political leaders,' grifters and cons of all stripes. That said, I'd like to mention that Ashraf Ahmed Abdallah, Egyptian citizen, was arrested at Miami International Airport on a Federal grand jury indictment of conspiracy to bring illegal aliens into the country.

Abdallah's arrest arose from an investigation in which he allegedly was identified as the principal in an operation to smuggle aliens into the United States,[between June 2001 and October 2001] particularly citizens of Egypt and its neighboring countries, for commercial advantage and private financial gain. [not to mention blowing stuff up -C] Specifically, the Indictment alleges that Adballah and his associates would allegedly direct the migrants to travel to Brazil, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and other Latin American countries, and from there to Guatemala, the base of the smuggling operation. According to the indictment, Abdallah would then stage the migrants in Guatemala and have them transported by his associates through Mexico for illegal entry into the United States.

A Google-news search produces 3 [three] references to this arrest. ThanQ! Michelle Malkin
