ToDaZeD Cow Flop

literally

Here they come again.  “Get offa my public land! that you pay for with your tax dollars butthat’snotimportantnow

Note how the SacBee accepts without question the allegations set forth.

Each summer, on hiking trips into the high Sierra, [director of the emergency room at the UC Davis Medical Center, Robert Derlet] brought that curiosity along, asking himself: Where do you get infections in the wilderness? The most obvious possibility, he believed, was the water.

Now, after 10 years of fieldwork and 4,500 miles of backpacking, Derlet knows for sure. ...

Nowhere is the water dirtier, he discovered, than on U.S. Forest Service land, including wilderness areas, where beef cattle and commercial pack stock – horses and mules – graze during the summer months.

The bear, mule deer, elk, fox, cougar, bob cat, badger, weasel, beaver, ringtail cat, coyote, gray squirrel were unavailable for comment.  Let’s hear from the skunk again:

Derlet and Charles Goldman, director of the UC Davis Tahoe Research Center, to mount a publicity campaign calling for dramatic management change in the Sierra. Cattle, they say, should be moved to lower elevations. And Forest Service areas where they now graze should be turned into national parks.

Really?  The waters were pristine back in the Bonanza days?  Ya don’t say?  And the

"At one time, cattle were important for developing civilization here,” said Derlet. “But now, with 40 million people in California, the Sierra is not for cattle. It’s for water. We need water more than Big Macs."

“Big Macs” Well, maybe you metrosexxxuals hippies Watermelon Greenies can do with out the plebian Big Macs—or even the delicious rib eye—but can you do without all the other things that come from the beef industry?

ToDaZeD What Is Wrong With You?!?

unclear on the concept

That is what happens when there is so much fear and there is so much disappointment,” said Gustavo Ramirez, a protester from California. “The laws that have been passed, they are Nazi laws. They are not considering humanity. They are a crime against humanity."

This is what happens; Klown Kolledge drop-outs smear swastikas on the AZ Capitol windows using refried beans.

image
Please.  It’s beans.  I insist we take their word for it.

While Gustavo Ramirez re-considers the advisability of de-caf, let’s take a wander through untangling this symbolism.

Swastika = NAZI = National Socialist Party.  Ok - an argument could be made to characterize folks who support having actual borders on their country as being nationalists.  Stupid, but almost arguable.  I would invite those who attempt it to first list all the countries in the world that have open borders and no requirements on those who wish to immigrate there.

The next layer involves creating those swastikas from refritos.  Ok - refried beans are stereotypically associated with those of Mexican tastes, if not nationality.  Also Taco Bell aficionados—but that’s not important now.  Are the vandal[s] implying that, as “Beaners”, the Mexican citizens who are outraged at being treated as equals before the law had no other tool at hand to express their disapproval other than a handful of ...erm, beans?  That don’t seem right…

Or might they be implying that Mexican NAZIs are invading AZ? Or that Arizonans dislike NAZIs—the old “f-- ‘em and feed ‘em beans” approach?

This is the first case of hate-crime vandalism since Gov. Jan Brewer signed the controversial Senate Bill ...

Wait.  Hate Crime?!? Who are we h8’n on—NAZIs?  Why would that be a crime?  Or is it a H8-crime to use beans to express yourself?  Or maybe it’s illegal to be H8’n on the AZ legislature?

ach - my head hurts.

“First Case”?!?  You’re expecting more?  Maybe next time 37 guys in a ‘92 Honda will run a red light and smack into the Capitol, then all jump out and run in opposite directions.  Or a lone man with a leaf blower will spell out something on the Capitol lawn?

Mexico’s Calderon squeaks out:

Mexican President Felipe Calderon says Arizona’s new immigration law is discriminatory and warns relations with the U.S. border state will suffer. ...

Calderon says trade and political ties with Arizona will be “seriously affected,” although he announced no concrete measures.

Tell me some more about how Mexico enforces its borders with Guatamala, Felipay?  Or how non-citizens are not allowed to own real property in Mexico?  Or how folks who overstay their visas are treated in Mexico?

“Indeed, our failure to act responsibly at the federal level will only open the door to irresponsibility by others. And that includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona, which threatened to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe.

“In fact, I’ve instructed members of my administration to closely monitor the situation and examine the civil rights and other implications of this legislation. But if we continue to fail to act at a federal level, we will continue to see misguided efforts opening up around the country."

Wonder if Teh iWon is amused by this misguidedness.

Trouble A'Brewin'

no.  wait… you’d need water to brew it!!!

Saddam Hussein wanted to flush out certain ppl in his country so he drained swamps to cut off the water supply. What is reddest part of CA??

Martha Montelongo, a panelist via KamaainaInOC on Twitter

See....  The CA Central Valley grows 40% of the nation’s food, so this isn’t just a Krazy Kahleefohrneeiah matter.

The Extreme Greens—the watermelon variety—want to follow the Muir model and exclude humans from all the “natural” areas.  They forget that Oakland was named for the giant oak trees that grew there 100 years ago and that San Francisco was a sandy bar home to a gazillion sand fleas, mites, midges and gnats before it was a thriving City by Teh BAy.  The Bay itself was a ginormous water fowl fly zone surrounded by vast marshes which fed elk, moose, bear, and a quintillion mosquitos.  But that’s not the “natural” area they want to excclude humans from:  the National Forests, National Parks and, now, the best growing agricultural land in the world are where they want to keep the humans out.

[remember:  all famines are political.]

So a couplafew years ago, the Watermelon Greenies became “conceeerned” about the Delta Smelt, some kind of dang guppie that was supposed to be native to the Delta region around Stockton CA.  There is rather a controversy about the damthing even being a native, but that’s not important, now.

The “conceeern” was that the poooor smelt was dying out—just in the Stockton/Tracy region, mind you—because the Big Eviil Pumps that move the water through the California Aqueduct were sucking them in and making fertilizer out of ‘em.  ‘Cept there’s a problem:  the smelt are dying upstream from the pumps.

Thing is, although the pumps to the CA Central Valley were shut off in 2008 and 2009, there was NO improvement in the smelt’s numbers!  Seems that there are other non-native fish who eat the smelt’s lunch and the smelt cannot compete.  Darwin Award Fish, right?  No one has ever laid out just exactly why the Smelt should be Saved; what good it does, what purpose it serves.  No that would be too logical.  Or, the hole in their argument is that the smelt is a useless little trash fish—an evolutionary experiment gone sideways and of not much use to anyone or any fish.

Or their sole purpose on Earth could be that they are the canary in the coal mine for the dumping of illegally untreated sewage, something that Stockton leads the nation in.  Very good at the raw sewage dump, Stockton is.  Hey - everyone has at least one talent.

But the Watermelon Greenies blame the pumps anyway—cuz they’re big and Industrial-looking, man-made and all complex and stuff, and likely make noise if you get past the razor wire and non-climb to get close enough to them.  So the water to make the food was priced up and up and finally cut off.  [one farmer reported his water bills:  “2006-$300k; 2007-$600K; 2008-$1.3mil; 2009-$2mil."] And unemployment in many of these little farming towns is up to 40%.  Yeah:  40% [forty percent].

And ver 50% of Central Valley acreage is being abandoned because, without water, dirt is useless.  The farmers there have squeezed their water usage down to the last drop, practically dry-farming because of the water costs.  Now, vast swaths of orchard - both fruit and nut - is lost, ready to be pushed over and burned.  Vineyards are ripped out.  Or it is left to rot.  Mile upon mile of fields are barren, unplanted and slowly returning to worthless native plants—and non-native plants that thrive in the hot and dry.

[Y’all do realize that CA gets no rain from late April/early May to late October/early November, right?]

And people will pay more for food grown in Mexico with no health inspections and in Chile with no controls on pesticides.  And, eventually, we’ll pay top dollar for a little pink baseball they’ll call a “tomato” grown in some night-soil fertilized field in China.  Oh, Yum.

And CA will have no agricultural base, which will contribute no revenue to the General Fund.  And the taxes will go up and up… But there will be no one to pay them.  The already unoccupied houses in Stockton will rot and fall.  And the rot will spread through the bedroom communities abandoned by those moving to Reno or some other place where jobs are plentiful because “business” is not a dirty word and “profit-making” is not a barely legal but socially disgusting undertaking.  And the whole of the Golden State will come to resemble Detroit, with illegals as squatting in the neighborhoods and narco-terrorists replacing the rice farmers and potato growers and nut ranchers.

Meanwhile, the snow pack is 166% of normal in the Northern Sierra—where all this water comes from in the first place.  Seems like it ought to be enough to create a whole lake for these smelt, doesn’t it?  But no.  The pumps remain silent.  The farmers get out while they can—those who are able.  The family farms fall to ruin.  The California Dream is over.

image

And for what?  Not the smelt.  Really, it isn’t his fault; he’s just a 2 inch fish.  It’s for the Big Government Power Brokers and the Hate The Human Greenies.

Swell.

NEED Moah Funding!

XXXSECXXX

Triple A… Triple X… whatevah.

Dozens of Securities and Exchange Commission staffers used government computers to access and download explicit images and many of the incidents have occurred since the global financial meltdown began, according to a new watchdog investigation.

...Several of employees held senior positions, earning between $99,300 and $222,418 per year…

A senior attorney at SEC headquarters in Washington admitted he sometimes spent as much as eight hours viewing pornography from his office computer, according to the report. The attorney’s computer ran out of space for the downloaded images, so he started storing them on CDs and DVDs that he stored in his office.

“Eight hours” Eight HOURS?!?

image

...Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said it was “nothing short of disturbing..."

Sounds like they’ve been studyin’ hard doing research on how to give an entire country—not to mention a world economy—a good, solid, well-studied… yanno.

Overboard on Teh Narrative

throw her a lifesaver small, fruit-flavored candy

The audience:

The Young Democratic Socialists is the on-campus section of the Democratic Socialists of America.

The Democratic Socialists of America founded the incredibly powerful Congressional Progressive Caucus with self described Socialist-Democrat, Bernie Sanders.

The Democratic Socialists of America, along with ACORN/SEIU and Citizen Action (now USAction) co-founded the New Party, and the Working Families Party, both of which Barack Obama pledged his loyalty to. Citizen Action was the organization Bob Creamer (Jan Schakowsky’s husband) was found guilty of embezzling from. Together, they all launched HCAN, the movement that spearheaded Obamacare.

The Democratic Socialists of America and Citizen Action were both founded by former members of the SDS/Weather Underground.
The Young Democratic Socialists represents the modern youth arm of America’s Congressional Progressive Caucus.

The Speaker, Bertha Lewis, CEO of ACORN:

OR *clicky*clicky*

Any of these groups that says, “I’m young, I’m Democratic, and I’m a socialist,” is okay with me. You know that’s no light thing to do—to actually say, I’m a socialist. You’ve got to know, actually, we are living in a time that’s going to dwarf the McCarthy era. It is going to dwarf the internment of World War II. We are right now in a time that is going to dwarf the era of Jim Crow and segregation.

...

They are coming. And they are coming after you. And they are going to be brutal and oppressive. They’ve already shown it. ... This is not rhetoric or hyperbole—this is real. ... This tea party so-called movement—a bowel-movement in my estimation—and this blatant uncovering and ripping off the mask of racism...

Poor, ignorant woman being played for a foo’...

Even more ironic is the explicit Democrat support given to the causes she lists. Liberal icon Bobby Kennedy played no small part in Joe McCarthy’s efforts to investigate Communist infiltration in the U.S. government. Internment of the Japanese came under the original New Deal Democrat president Franklin Roosevelt. The era of Jim Crow laws was governed by southern Democrats like Alabama governor George Wallace and Mississippi senator Jim Eastland.

Mr Orwell to the White Courtesy Telephone, Please...

gettin’ dizzy

The claims of spitting and “n-word” were a flare.  The cries of raaaaacist were a flare.  Here’s the real deal:

Writing on January 15, 2010, Glenn Greenwald at Salon noted Barack Obama’s new head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Cass Sunstein, had championed creating fake websites and using outside 501(c)(3) interest groups to act as alleged independent champions of government policy and to “cognitively infiltrate” opposition websites, etc.

Cognitively infiltrate.  That’s bullshiiteese for troll.

Red State did a bang-up job on this.  *clicky* for info on the funding behind this outfit.

Let’s also remember that Center for American Progress, led by Obama’s transition team director John Podesta, has regular 8 a.m. phone calls to coordinate activity on the left.

Hm...

disturbing trend?

I think wack jobs and nut buckets ought to be encouraged to speak—widely and loudly—so that regular folks can hear for themselves what wackery and nuttyness sound like.

[Bill] Ayers, who is a professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago, makes college speeches and is routinely picketed, but the University of Wyoming last week banned him from using any university venue for a planned April 28 lecture.

Ayers and student Meg Lanker sued on Thursday, asking a federal judge to issue an injunction and allow the lecture. The lawsuit alleges the ban violates free speech rights and the freedom to assemble.

...Ayers will speak at the Laramie Civic Center if he’s not allowed on campus.

Well, that kinda blows the suit— he does have the freedom to assemble a mob and bray like a jackass.

Danger Zone

beware

“I learned a couple things," [Steven J. Hatfill, the scientist wrongfully accused of being the anthrax killer] told “Today”... “The government can do to you whatever they want. They can break the laws, federal laws, as they see fit. ... You can’t turn laws on and off as you deem fit.

“I used to be somebody that trusted the government. Now I really don’t trust anything,"

"My country didn’t do this to me,” he told The Atlantic. “A bloated, incompetent bureaucracy and a broken press did. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing today if I didn’t still love my country."

I Get Email ...

must’ve fallen from that light in the sky t’other night...

Tycho Ted here, writing from Luna City, located near Shackleton Crater.  I live here in about 2110, and I’ve been reading a bunch of history books recently, Luna City, as you probably don’t know, since it ain’t happened yet, was founded by several private firms in 2020, primarily SpaceX and Bigelow Aerospace.  NASA first paid us a visit around 2025, having leased a ride from SpaceX.  The concierge from Bigelow asked NASA to park around in the back, so as not to embarrass the paying customers—tourists.

I understand that back there in 2010 you’ve got a President named O’Bama.  What, was he from Ireland, or something?  He was black, wasn’t he?  From Ireland?

But I digress.  Back there in 2010, O’Bama actually did something that was incredibly important.  (I just checked my history book.  I got his name wrong; he wasn’t Irish at all, was he?)

President Obama opened up the Solar System.  He’s the reason I was born here in Luna City, and why my daughter’s out there beyond what we call the “Continental Shelf” homesteading.  That’s helping build an O’Neill colony out beyond the orbit of Pluto, in the Kuiper Belt.  I just got some email from her, too; things are going fine.  (No, we haven’t figured out how to send information faster than light; forget it, will ya?  Slower than light’s the way the Universe is built.)

Obama didn’t mean to do all this.  Not at all!  From what I read in my history books, he was what you folks called a “stone-cold” socialist.  ("Stone-cold," You don’t know what “stone-cold” is until you’ve ice mined at the bottom of Shackleton.) (Oh, by the way, why’d you folks elect him?  After all of the evidence from the 20th Century that socialism doesn’t work, that it leads only to death and poverty, well, didn’t any of you pay any attention?)

I digress again.  Sorry.

Well, socialism doesn’t work.  That’s not a digression; that’s the central fact.  The facts are clear from history.  Socialism didn’t work in Russia, it didn’t work in China, it didn’t work in Vietnam, it didn’t work in China—and it didn’t work for NASA either.

What?  Did I say something that offended you?  That somehow surprised you?  Of course NASA was nothing but a socialist enterprise.  Look up the definition of what “socialism” is and then give a look at what the histories say about what NASA did from about 1970 until about 2010, when Obama changed things.

Obama eliminated a program within NASA that was supposed to take specially selected government employees—the only ones allowed to go into space by the American government before the skies were opened up to everyone by private enterprise (I think they were called “astronauts")—that was impossible to pay for.  Even a blue ribbon committee appointed by President Obama in 2009 stated that even if the Ares I rocket and its Orion crew capsule were to show up entirely developed for free, that NASA would have to immediately cancel the program, because it couldn’t afford to operate it.

You could look it up.  It’s true!

And furthermore, the Aries I rocket was incredibly badly engineered.  It wouldn’t have worked; it was a deathtrap.  By the time President Obama canceled it, NASA wasn’t capable of safely engineering any rocket.

Now Obama didn’t do this because he was a fan of capitalism, like us here in Luna City.  No, he was a socialist to the core, and several of the tenets of socialism are that humans are bad, that technology is bad, that exploration is bad, and most certainly, that expansion and growth are bad.  From what I have read about the rest of this one-term president, he believed all of those tenets with his very soul (if he had one).  No, what he thought he was doing was shutting down having any Americans going into space, even if they were specially-selected members of the Aerospace Nomenkultura, them there “astronauts.” This was a view that his cronies in the Democrat Party almost entirely shared, too.  Look at what President of the Proletariat Pelosi (isn’t that what you folks called her?) thought about spaceflight with humans—or technology of any sort—throughout her career.  Is it any surprise that Obama promulgated a policy that his minions in Congress wanted?  (Or was he the minion of the Democrats in Congress?  The histories aren’t clear on this to me.)

These dummies didn’t believe in private enterprise.  Business was Bad, wasn’t it?  Private enterprise was evial, wasn’t it?  These idiots thought that by getting the socialist enterprise called “NASA” out of the way, that private enterprise, which they didn’t believe in, couldn’t do the job of opening things up in space.  This would serve their purpose: to shut down American human spaceflight.

You folks in 2010, you’ve got to help me out here; you’ve got to explain some things to me that I don’t understand when I read my histories.  The Republicans, who as I understand things, were supposed to be the champions of free enterprise and the very enemies of socialism, were the most staunch opponents of Obama’s space plan.  Why did they support continuing a socialist space program?  Were they so in love with the pork that came into their districts—some of them—from the government tax redistributions caused by NASA—that they not only abandoned their principles, they not only turned their back on them, but strongly fought to continue what had for 40 years been an expensive and obvious failure?  I don’t get it.  Perhaps you can explain it for me?

Well, in any case, thank Klono’s Claws that Obama’s plan was actually carried out.  In shutting down NASA’s 2004 plan to go back to the Moon, by canceling it, Obama utterly and completely inadvertently opened up the rest of the Solar System, unleashing the forces of private enterprise and allowing humanity to expand outward into the Up and Out, where energy and mass are plentiful and where doomsday has been canceled.  At the time it seemed like the end of the world to some.  And to some it was—the socialist parasites of the American Nomenkultura.  But to the real space pioneers, like Buzz Aldrin (but not Neil Armstrong) and Elon Musk, Jeff Greason and Pat Bahn, it was the beginning of the beginning they’d worked for their entire lives.

And now I gotta go read what my daughter’s up to.  Hey, they’re talking about building a worldship for an interstellar voyage!  Those crazy kidz!  Now, why would anyone want to do that?!

KAOS

In his self-styled war against Wall Street, President Obama appears to have a powerful ally: Goldman Sachs.

Shocked.  Shocked, I tell you.

"Given that much of the financial contagion was fueled by uncertainty about counterparties’ balance sheets,” Goldman Chief Executive Officer Lloyd Blankfein and President Gary Cohn wrote in a letter at the beginning of the annual report, “we support measures that would require higher capital and liquidity levels, as well as the use of clearinghouses for standardized derivative transactions.”

Goldman’s executives are calling for two regulations here. First, they want the federal government to restrict free-wheeling, heavily leveraged, high-stakes financial risk taking. Second, they want government to set more rules of the road for trading derivatives—financial products that are often complex.

Will the derivatives market of Carbon Credits be included? [srsly:  a derivative based on the non-delivery of an invisible substance to no one.  gotta regulate that]

If you take Blankfein and Cohn’s word, stricter federal liquidity and capital requirements would amount to regulators doing Goldman’s work for Goldman. They want Uncle Sam to mitigate “uncertainty about counterparties’ balance sheets.” That is, they want the government to reduce the risk that Goldman’s debtors or insurers will run into trouble.

Good thing the Eeeevil Capitalists are on top of this, eh?

Like Sorros:

“Unless we learn the lessons, that markets are inherently unstable and that stability needs to the objective of public policy, we are facing a yet larger bubble.

“We have added to the leverage by replacing private credit with sovereign credit and increasing national debt by a significant amount.”

erm, wha?

.

Oh!  My....

The SEC filed a civil fraud complaint against Goldman Sachs and one of its employees Fabrice Tourre, accusing Goldman of failing to disclose vital information to investors regarding a collateralized debt obligation that one of its clients helped create, and then shorted.

According to the SEC, Goldman did not disclose the role Paulson & Co., one of the world’s largest hedge funds, played in the portfolio selection process, and the fact that it had taken a short position against the security, a CDO known as ABACUS 2007-AC1. Specifically, Goldman’s marketing materials for the CDO all represented that its portfolio was selected by ACA Management, a third party with expertise in analyzing credit risk in residential mortgage-backed securities.

Flashbacks??? forwards ????

makin’ me dizzy

Google and an alliance of privacy groups have come to Yahoo’s aid by helping the Web portal fend off a broad request from the U.S. Department of Justice for e-mail messages

rly?  ∅-Bambi wants my email?  He isn’t surrounded by enough jokes already?!?

Yahoo has been quietly fighting prosecutors’ requests in front of a federal judge in Colorado, with many documents filed under seal. Tuesday’s brief from Google and the other groups aims to buttress Yahoo’s position by saying users who store their e-mail in the cloud enjoy a reasonable expectation of privacy that is protected by the U.S. Constitution.

“Society expects and relies on the privacy of e-mail messages just as it relies on the privacy of the telephone system,” the friend-of-the-court brief says.

Way to miss the point, Mr Amused

who ya leavin’ it for?

"Now, I understand that some believe that we should attempt a return to the surface of the Moon first, as previously planned. But I just have to say pretty bluntly here: We’ve been there before. "

Aide from this demonstration of utter incomprehension of
- logistics
- infrastructure
- orbital mechanics
- gravity wells
- ‘the high ground’
- economics
- spin-offs
- etc
Teh Amused ∅ne apparently never learned that the ROI from the Apollo program was approx. $14:1*.  The US economy certainly couldn’t use that.

At the current rate of invasion the United States will be completely over run with ILLEGAL aliens by the year 2025...only 20 years away. ILLEGAL aliens and their offspring will be the dominant population in the U.S. and will have made such inroads into the political and social systems that they will have more influence than the U.S. Constitution over how the U.S. is governed. That ugly consequence is already taking place. The United States of America is under invasion. --- James Gilchrist - The MinuteMan Project
