Yet Another Walkback
Yet Another Walkback

...Critics pointed to the part of the lesson plan that originally recommended having students “write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president.”
The White House revised the plans Wednesday to say students could “write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals,” the Associated Press reports.
“That was inartfully worded, and we corrected it," White House deputy policy director Heather Higginbottom told the AP....
The *tappity*tap* of re-writes on Teh Skool Speech—merely to “rephrase” those “inartfully worded” bits [from the most naturally gifted speaker in Teh HisStory of Da W∅rld]—is deafening.
Further walkback:
The White House plans to release a copy of Obama’s remarks on Monday, in plenty of time for parents to decide whether they want their kids to hear the speech.

Now *That's* an Idea
worth pursuing
Physicians have never been so insulted. Because of these affronts, I will gladly volunteer for the important duty of controlling and regulating lawyers. Since most of what lawyers do is repetitive boilerplate or pushing paper, physicians would have no problem dictating what is appropriate for attorneys. We physicians know much more about legal practice than lawyers do about medicine.
Following are highlights of a proposed bill authorizing the dismantling of the current framework of law practice and instituting socialized legal care:
- Contingency fees will be discouraged, and eventually outlawed…
- Ration legal care. ...
- Discourage/eliminate specialization. ...
- Lawyer Reduction Act ...

“l33t" chickensh33ts
This is how these creeps “fight back” against facts, evidence and the light of day:
...the latest nasty meme to hit the Internet: insinuating that Glenn Beck raped and killed a young girl in 1990. And the meme may not go away anytime soon: preliminary evidence suggests that Anonymous, the powerful, collective behind such massive, coordinated stunts as attacking the Church of Scientology and flooding YouTube with porn, may be behind it.
Evidence of “l33t” astroturfing—likely turf for hire—that is tantamount to an admission of guilt and defeat. Otherwise, why not counter facts with facts, evidence with evidence? Fresh out, are ye? Well, then simply attack a man’s character and reputation. Fresh out of hard evidence? Just do it through anonymous avenues with innuendo and suggestion.
This is dirty, disgusting and more than a little creepy. And I bet it just makes GB dig deeper and harder. Smooth move, David. You are no Karl Rove.
What’s next? Insinuations that Teh iW∅n has Stalin’s preserved member in a hidden vault in the basement of the White House? And that he, Rahm and Teh W∅∅kie pleasure one another with it Wednesday evenings after absinthe and Otter-Pops?
This dangerous slope can slide both ways, yanno. I would choose with care, were I you.

ok—this part is funny. Sick, but funny.

[Van Jones—From 2008]
“One of the things that happens too often to Progressives is that we don’t understand the relationship betweenMinimum Goals and Maximum Goals.
Right after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat if the civil rights leaders had jumped out and said OK now we want reparations for slavery, we want redistribution of all the wealth, and we want to legalize mixed marriages. If we’d come out with a maximum program the very next day, they’d been laughed at. Instead they came out with a very minimum. “We just want to integrate these busses...” But, inside that minimum demand was a very radical kernel that eventually meant that from 1964 to 1968 complete revolution was on the table for this country.
And, I think that this green movement has to pursue those same steps and stages. Right now we say we want to move from suicidal gray capitalism to something eco-capitalism where at least we’re not fast-tracking the destruction of the whole planet. Will that be enough? No, it won’t be enough. We want to go beyond the systems of exploitation and oppression all together.
But, that’s a process and I think that’s what’s great about the movement that is beginning to emerge is that the CRISIS is so severe in terms of joblessness, violence and now ecological threats that people are willing to be both pragmatic and visionary.
So the green economy will start off as a small subset and we are going to push it and push it and push it until it becomes the engine for transforming the whole society.

So, “redistribution of all wealth” is what Mrs. Parks and Dr. King were marching for?

This again?
campaign re-treads
A classic technique, admittedly. Also, as subtle as a turd in a punchbowl.
It this a testing of the waters before the big All Skoolz Obamapalooza next week?
Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington [UT]were shown a short video called “I pledge” on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, “Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.” The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world—and that’s where some say the problem lies.
Many pledges, such as supporting local food banks, smiling more, and caring for the elderly are noncontroversial. But other pledges, such as “to never give anyone the finger when I’m driving again,” “to sell my obnoxious car and buy a hybrid” and to advance stem cell research cross the line, some say.
...Gayle Ruzicka, president of conservative Utah Eagle Forum, said the video was blatantly political. She said other offensive pledges included, “I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama,” “I pledge allegiance to the funk, to the united funk of funkadelica,” and pledges to not use plastic grocery bags and not flush the toilet after urinating.

*shudder* This is a little more than one toke over the line…
PS: The parents made the principal apologize. Too little too late.

California’s Man-Made Drought
The green war against San Joaquin Valley farmers.

[California]’s water emergency is unfolding thanks to the latest mishandling of the Endangered Species Act. Last December, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued what is known as a “biological opinion” imposing water reductions on the San Joaquin Valley and environs to safeguard the federally protected hypomesus transpacificus, a.k.a., the delta smelt. As a result, tens of billions of gallons of water from mountains east and north of Sacramento have been channelled away from farmers and into the ocean, leaving hundreds of thousands of acres of arable land fallow or scorched.
For this, Californians can thank the usual environmental suspects, er, lawyers.
Not only do you not get the produce you have become accustomed to, you get to pay more welfare. Farmers? Oh hell no—illegals:
In the inland areas affected by the court-ordered water restrictions, the jobless rate has hit 14.3%, with some farming towns like Mendota seeing unemployment numbers near 40%. Statewide, the rate reached 11.6% in July, higher than it has been in 30 years.
We’re dang near eligible for international aid. Wait! We’re getting it!
sort of…
Sacramento’s Mexican Consulate served up a smorgasbord of services to hundreds of Mexican immigrants Monday. The immigrants, most of whom came for Mexican passports and consular identification cards, got advice on how to ensure they get paid and treated fairly on the job.
...first-ever Labor Rights Week. ...State and federal labor officials joined immigrant rights advocates and union representatives to address work- related injuries, sexual harassment, salary issues and working conditions.
...endorsed by Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, to protect Mexican workers regardless of their legal status.
Well, at least the illegals migrants brasseros will be ok.
Things in California may have to get so bad that they endanger Democratic Congressional incumbents before Washington wakes up, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Mr. Salazar has said that convening the God Squad [a panel of seven cabinet officials known as a “God Squad” is able to intercede in economic emergencies] would be “admitting failure” in the effort to save the smelt under the Endangered Species Act. Maybe so, but the livelihoods of tens of thousands of humans are also at stake. If the Obama Administration wants to help, it can take up Governor Schwarzenegger’s request that it revisit the two biological opinions that are hanging farmers and farm workers out to dry.

self-described, mind you...
