Here's another word of ToDaZeD

a rich time for linguists...

While economic times are tough across Michigan as its people slog through a difficult and protracted deindustrialization, Beasley remains upbeat.

srsly?!?  Deindustrialization: v “to deprive (a conquered nation) of the means or potential for industrial growth.”

But, back to the story:

Beasley, a 69-year-old retired truck driver who modestly refers to himself as the Coon Man, supplements his Social Security check with the sale of raccoon carcasses that go for as much $12 and can serve up to four. The pelts, too, are good for coats and hats and fetch up to $10 a hide.

...A licensed hunter and furrier, Beasley says he hunts coons and rabbit and squirrel for a clientele who hail mainly from the South, where the wild critters are considered something of a delicacy.

...Though the flesh is not USDA inspected, if it is thoroughly cooked, there is small chance of contracting rabies from the meat, and distemper and Parvo cannot be passed onto humans, experts say.

Well… that’s fine, then.  Beasley has more thoughts:

..."Starvation is cheap,” he says as he prepares an afternoon lunch of barbecue coon and red pop at his west side home.

..."Today people got no skill and things is getting worse,” he laments. “What people gonna do? They gonna eat each other up is what they gonna do."

Reductionism

on a bed of thuggery, with a side of despot and retcon sauce

At a meeting with CEOs of the most powerful financial institutions in the world who were attempting to explain to the TOTUS the Brain Drain that a Compensation Cap would create for their institutions and industry—and our Country.

“Be careful how you make those statements, gentlemen. The public isn’t buying that.” “My administration," the president added, "is the only thing between you and the pitchforks."

srsly?  From the guy who rabble-roused hizownself about a lousy tenth of 1% of the Bailout money he authorized?!?  Is that the New Respect of Change?

Talking to men whose daily work he doesn’t begin to comprehend, much less could he perform.  Pitchforks.

And what does that statement say about his actual perception of you’n’me—the Average American?  That we are ...simple people, people of the land… the common clay of our Country.  You know; morons.

ToDaZeD WASoF

sumbuddy stop him...

The U.S. Senate voted Thursday night to approve President Barack Obama’s $3.5 trillion spending plan.

The claim to reduce the deficit by half compares this year’s immense (mostly inherited) deficit to the projected fiscal year 2013 deficit, the last of his current term. While it is technically correct that the deficit would be less than half this year’s engorged level, a do-nothing budget would reduce it by 84%. Compared to do-nothing, Mr. Obama’s deficit is more than two and a half times larger in fiscal year 2013. Just his addition to the budget deficit, $459 billion, is bigger than any deficit in the nation’s history. And the 2013 deficit is supposed to be after several years of economic recovery, funds are being returned from the financial bailouts, and we are out of Iraq.

Finally, what of the claim not to raise taxes on anyone earning less than $250,000 a year? Even ignoring his large energy taxes, Mr. Obama must reconcile his arithmetic. Every dollar of debt he runs up means that future taxes must be $1 higher in present-value terms. Mr. Obama is going to leave a discounted present-value legacy of $6.5 trillion of additional future taxes unless he dramatically cuts spending. (With interest the future tax hikes would be much larger later on.) Call it a stealth tax increase or ticking tax time-bomb.

Yeah.  “Dramatic spending cuts.” That’s gonna happen.  So what does this mean on an individual basis?

If spread evenly over all those paying income taxes (which under Mr. Obama’s plan would shrink to a little over 50% of the population),

Which is an important failure for future [D] votes:  those who don’t see the taxes they pay *cough*Fair Tax plug*cough* are quite unlikely to take taxes into consideration when voting.  They’re gonna vote themselves “pay” raises instead.

every income-tax paying family would get a tax bill for $163,000. (In 10 years, interest would bring the total to well over a quarter million dollars, if paid all at once. If paid annually over the succeeding 10 years, the tax hike every year would average almost $34,000.) That’s in addition to his explicit tax hikes. ...

We can get a rough idea of who is likely to pay them by distributing this $6.5 trillion of future taxes according to the most recent distribution of income-tax burdens.

Some numbers to keep in mind:

For Tax Year 2006:
The top 1% of earners pay 39.89% of Federal Personal Income Tax

Top 5% 60.14%
Top 10% 70.79%
Top 25% 86.27%

Top 50% of earners pay 97.01% of Federal Personal Income Tax

...But it also turns out that Mr. Obama’s massive additional debt implies a tax hike, if paid today, of well over $100,000 for people with incomes of $150,000, far below Mr. Obama’s tax-hike cut-off of $250,000. (With interest, the tax hike would rise to more than $162,000 in 10 years, and over $20,000 a year if paid annually the following 10 years). In other words, a middle-aged two-career couple in New York or California could get a future tax bill as big as their mortgage.

Oh what’s that word the Progressives use to measure the validity of any new enterprise?  It was on the tip of my fingers a minute ago… What was it....  Oh yeah:  Sustainable

Ay, well—maybe that measure only applies to smelt.

Strategery

Mobs, Yobs & R∅∅bs

From “seminar callers” to “Concerned Christian Conservatives” astroturfing is the way of the Progressives.  How do Conservatives best respond?  Use their vile tactics against ‘em?  Or point ‘em out for what they are relying on people’s sense of fair play?

This is a question.

The American right is in a heap of trouble in a media age that doesn’t shun the goons and liars that have poisoned the political process and won the American presidency by breaking the rules of fair play. It is time to fight back, but it won’t be easy. The enemy is willing to do and say anything in order to win.

Serr8d gives a short course in “know thy Enemy:”

Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals (don’t just look at ‘em, LEARN and APPRECIATE ‘em)

Blagojevich said in a statement Thursday he is saddened and hurt by the charges leveled against him.

...Allegations included plotting to auction off President Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate set, pressuring a congressman for campaign money and lying to FBI agents.

Blago was just vacationing in Flahriddah—I, for one, am amazed he didn’t just keep headin’ South.

Another One Expired!

we need a sound effect for this

“I can make a firm pledge,” [∏eh n∅∅b] said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. “Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.” ..."you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime.”

...His detailed campaign plan stated that his proposed improvement in health insurance and health technology “is more than covered” by raising taxes on the wealthy alone. It was not based on raising the tobacco tax.

..."No one making less than $250,000 under Barack Obama’s plan will see one single penny of their tax raised,” Joe Biden said, “whether it’s their capital gains tax, their income tax, investment tax, any tax.”

Now in office, Obama, who stopped smoking but has admitted he slips now and then, signed a law raising the tobacco tax 62 cents on a pack of cigarettes, to $1.01.

A Gallup survey ... found that 34 percent of respondents earning $6,000 to $12,000 were smokers, and the smoking rate consistently declined among people of higher income. Only 13 percent of people earning $90,000 or more were smokers.

Smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em can afford ‘em—it’s for the chiiiiildren.

ignoring tantrums—bad idea?

Did they think no one would notice?  or respond to being burned in effigy?

Bankers leaning out of office windows taunted demonstrators on the streets below [and waved £10 notes at G20 protesters], who responded with jeers and shouts.

ToDaZeD Doom-asses

a suggestion

Step 1:  Let’s take over some ruined country—or buy one, what the hey.  So what’s another gagillion or two in debt, eh? Someplace temperate with some natural resources that aren’t currently being used, adequate water, good soil. An island would be ideal—to keep this focused.  Not too big but with little or no infrastructure.

[stick with me—I’ve got a plan]

Step 2:  We relocate the population to some more habitable place.  No, not Detroit—have some mercy on the poor souls.  No, we’ll choose somewhere kind.  And we’ll break up whatever warring factions that’ve kept the little country stuck in the tenth century so they don’t carry that virus with ‘em.  Or what the hell—just sell ‘em to the Saudis.  [kidding]
[probably]

Then we let these filk have a go.

image

C’mon, AnarchyBoy—show us how it’s done.  Abolish money and bankers and elected leaders and show us this fabu utopia you’re hollerin’ about.

image

Ok.  So show us what you’ve got in mind.  A constitutional republic?  Gubbmint by conseeensus?

image

This’ll help.  At least you have this in common with *cough* some other world leaders....

image

And you’ve already got what looks like a terrific Central Committee.

Step 3:  profit Hilarity
[and a great example for the kidz the voters, and Congress.]
